He loves to see a showdown, and he did raise initially preflop, so maybe he is sitting on a hand now, and was trying to get tricky on the turn when he checked. Go for a block bet on the river, and see if he bites.

blockbets are made OOP :P.

i go for the same size, 1/2 pot though.
