If you don't have any special reads on SB (that he's a maniac), you'd better check behind on turn. He's capping preflop from early position and bets/3bets on the flop into 4 opponents, so I would put him on a QQ, KK, AA from here.
His check on the turn might have been a trap (attempt to check/raise) or he was really afraid on an A (which is quite possible since you 3bet preflop). You don't want to fold to a check/raise with your good pair, but if it happens you'll have to call but you are mostly behind. You don't have enough fold equity to force them to fold (UTG is in a fishy calling-station mode with a draw and won't fold in such huge pot, SB won't fold after 3betting the flop). And it's not a value bet since you are most probably behind already (also, there's a little possibility to induce a bluff from SB on the river, but I would fold if UTG called or raised his bet).

P.S. I'm not familiar with stats, so I might miss some significant info about opponents' style which might be got from them...

Thanks.

My plan here was trying to use the A to get a free showdown (and maybe make someone fold, but I should know it's impossible here). I don't know if I can do this after SB capping preflop and 3-betting flop, as I'm risking a check/raise, I'm probably behind and my hand won't improve on the river.

I'm not very good with stats neither :) I think SB is slightly loose and very aggressive post-flop and UTG is very loose-passive.

So, your plan for free SD succeeded, but I don't think it's sensible against reasonable player :)

Actually, I'm not sure what "quality" of players one could expect on 0.5/1, because I'm stuck on 0.25/0.50 suffering badly from terrible bad beats and weak player's suckouts (spending today to review my last sessions and post many hands here for judges to estimate).

i agree with the check behind.
i think in 99% of the time he has KK or QQ (which he will never ever fold in this gigantic pot) or he has you totally screwed with AA or AK of

The price question (is that even an english word?) what do we do on the river? ;)

we hope that nobody bets and check behind... easy going ;) ^^

no seriously:
against non idiots we can at least fold to a bet and a call, despite the gigantic pot, can´t we ? if it goes bet/raise we can fold.
if sb checks and utg bets i tend to call because he could bluff a busted flush draw, 55, 88 or TT.
i don´t like any of these decissions though...

i guess i would just look at the pot size and call because the implied tilt equity is much too high when we fold and notice that we folded the best hand for like 2 billion bbs.

After we checked behind on the river:
- if both SB and UTG check, we bet/call for value. If any of them (doesn't matter who) raise me I wouldn't believe check/raise here (since it would be a great loss of value for any of them with made hand to hope for a bet after the turn was checked thru), so I prefer to call and see. Also the pot it too big to fold to a raise.
- if SB bets on river and UTG calls or raises then we fold. if UTG folds, we may want to call to see how reasonable SB is and to make notes of him.
- if SB checks and UTG bets, I tend to fold, though there're no sensible hands that could be called the way UTG called them that can complete straight on river, but still, he seems very loose and can have something like 2 pairs or even oddly completed straight. Also we have SB behind in this case, and he may raise (doesn't matter bluff or not), and we don't want to participate in this anymore.

P.S. ah, i was writing this stuff when frzl posted his reply :) but I still don't want to call UTG because of SB behind.

i don´t see a value bet btw.
i´m not really sure about the utg call but imo it doesn´t make sence to fold to a utg bet (who played passive the whole hand) but to bet/call the river if he checks...

Why not a value bet? In such big pot we can hope for crying calls, also they might call us with even with K high because we might just bluff to take the pot away using our position on the river.

after a cap preflop and a 3-bet on the flop i can´t see any K high hand calling. the only worse hand which makes sence is TT imo.
i haven´t played 0,5/1 for a while but if the players there really call K high (busted flushdraw or something) on this board after this action i will start to 24 table this limit and become a poker pro ^^

//edit: seriously:
to call K here isn´t a crying call it´s simply suicide. the only hands you cap preflop are pairs or Ax. and you beat none of them with K high. (i assume that nobody caps JTs for deception or something on this limit)

i´m off now for about 30 minutes... i´m interested in other opinions of course.

I agree with frzl but I like your analyses very much Macrobeus. Keep it on. :)

The problem with the valuebet is that there are nearly no worse hands that would call us and UTG is very likely just on a busted draw.

At least betting turn makes for an easier river (I would fold then to any bet, be it turn or river)

After checking turn I'd only fold to SB bet + UTG raise (yes, I'm that easy). And, as I don't see SB not betting river after 3-betting flop, that's the only situation where checking turn is better than betting.
Well, that's not completely true. I'd probably fold river to a SB bet with any heart, 8, 3 or K (and maybe a Q), and those are quite a few cards. Now I realize this is not the best plan, but it's how I'd play. [EDIT: I like frzl's play better]

implied tilt equity

Not completely sure of what that means, but I like it

I wasn't sure it was :)

If someone like you is still there maybe I should come back (I mean you seem to understand the game better than me). .5/1 is being quite harder for me, maybe I just "passed" .25/.5 in an upswing. At least, at the moment I'm not losing money :P
And don't worry, .25/.5 shouldn't be hard for you. One thing I learnt is that if you keep playing well you'll undo your loses. Don't worry about wins and loses, but about each hand. That and avoid maniacs! ;)

About the K high thing. I'm not sure, I should pay more attention to what people plays, but I don't think anyone would call here with K high.

yes, I actually agree with frzl, betting river is mostly against calling stations who overwhelmed me the other day :) I should correct my thinking.

Hawat just play according to our BRM. You don't need to play much better for the next limit so your skill is good enough if you ask me. TerrorBlade seems to have just a downswing or he had to cashout. :)
