A8, missed flop facing potsize bet

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $20(BB) Replayer
($1,550)
Hero ($1,450)

Dealt to Hero 8♠ A♣

Hero raises to $60, raises to $100, Hero calls $40

FLOP ($200) 2♠ 5♣ 2♣

bets $200, Hero folds

wins $200

I think that the potsize bet is very, very often begging for a fold. But this is still a fold, right? Or am I giving up a lot of equity?

Vs some players it may be begging for a fold. If you make it your standard assumption vs players youre going to be spewing off way too much.

Flat pre is def fine without reads, can't fold anything to those odds.

This. If I had AT I'd consider peeling a street and seeing what he does on the turn, with A8 it can be fine too vs a smaller bet, but vs a potsize bet I think we're giving up too much by calling here.

He's not saying absolutely call A8 or absolutely call AT vs everyone or even just as a readless default - just consider it. Reads and game dynamics are so important here.
