HELP ME: strange email from 888.

Hi pieal,

I'm sorry to see that you encountering this problem regarding your 888Poker account.

You sound so scared but this was just a kind warning from their side, even though it seems the reasoning behind is pretty much unknown to all of us at this point.

Unfortunately, the only thing I can't do is to advise you that this will be fine and you're 100% safe, because how could I know that?

Best is to reply this email and tell them your concerns like you did here. Ask if they could provide you with evidence to back up this email and we'll go from there, ok? Worst case, I'll contact them with regards to your account but when it comes to security measures, poker room won't be providing much information to us.

Let me know how it goes.

Please be aware there are spam e-mails loose from a totally fake outfit pretending to be 888. I have had a few also. Be warned, people!

I replied to the same email address.. where it came from.. i asked for more evidence... and what point they r accusing me.. i asked them to say what shuld i avoid in poker room which make make such confusions.. i ll avoid them... got a automated reply.. here it is:

If you haven't committed any suspicious behaviour and they still sent you that email whos to say they won't find your behaviour suspicious in future as well? I would withdraw and not play on 888 for a bit. Your account is obviously now under close watch and any mistake you may make could prove costly.

Smaller poker sites look for as many ways to benefit themselves in legal ways. They can and will provide evidence of your suspicious behaviour whether you committed it intentionally or not. I know PokerStrategy is an affiliate and aims to look after their business partnerships while ensuring members feel as comfortable as possible but can you really deny that the Poker world isn't exactly a safe place right now?

The only safe place to hold your money atm is on PokerStars.

TL;DR:

Withdraw all your money before they screw you over.

You might say I'm being overly cautious but better safe than sorry is it not?

i havent committed any supicious bhaviour and still i got such a mail. that why i m too worried. is it safe to play there anymore? what if they just send me another email and just freeze my account! they havent send me any evidence even.
i m not playing anything over there till i m sure i m clear and till they say it was a mistake to send me such a mail.

If you replied to the SAME email address, it could still very easily be a con like a previous member said. Have you tried emailing 888 from their site?

Dunno if you already do, but in light of the events of the last year or so involving the collapse of several high profile poker rooms, it is always good practice to ensure you only keep the bare minimum of your roll on any given site. The balance can be held in an e-wallet (ie Netteller or MoneyBookers) as well as offline in your bank account/box under your floorboards/underpants draw.

I only keep the bare minimum of $$ on each of the sites I play knowing that deposits (if required) are instantly available if I have a bad run.

At least in this way if you are the victim of fraud, collapse or misunderstanding you've limited your exposure.

thanx Waiboy. ya i do.. i told in my post. i do evrything posible to keep my account safe.. i dont keep much $ on my account and cash out rest of it.. mostly i cashout 60-70% of my winning after 2-3 days and add rest to my bankroll. i dont have much cash in my account now. i really care about my account.. as i said.. i take it was my semiprofession. so if i m unable to play its gonna really effect me.

Your options are the following:

1) If you 100% sure you have done nothing wrong then continue playing. Just keep your roll to a minimum. If they decide to close your account then you can come back here and PS will try to help you as they have done others.

2) If you need clarity then what you do is arrange with PS and give them you handhistories from HM/PT. They can then ask 888 for the hands that were considered dumping. The good thing of having PS is that they are the so called middle man and should be able to consider both your database and the hands recieved. That is what they get paid for. If 888 declines to give the hands to PS then we know where the problem is. Also if the database suplied to PS do not include the hands in question the PS will also know where the problem is.

If this is a scam email then 888 will confirm it to PS.

tl;dr

PS must do the work of a middle man and sort this out

PS can't do anything about 888s final decision. Have you ever seen PS actually resolve an incident that wasn't the players fault? No, they can only clarify to the player why their funds have been seized/account has been closed/funds are missing.

There was a thread a bit ago where some guy was adamant that he did not place money on casino games and sought out PS help. He provided as much evidence as he could and all PS could do was clarify to the member the reasons for 888's decision.

PokerStrategy is a great site but they don't influence poker rooms in these sort of matters. They can only look to clarify the issue.

+1 and you're expectations mineriva is absolutely unrealistic. PokerStrategy.com has no access to third party information. Players affiliate with us in exchange of promotions, free $50 and education materials but everyone must take responsibility for their own actions when it comes to poker accounts.

Sadly, when accounts are in fraud check, security check we're pretty much powerless.
