correct me if i am wrong players playing in $.5/$1 is paying on a avg 10% more than players in $1/$2 & 30% more compare to $2/$4

Hi, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I have done some looking around, and the following information is based on what's available on the PokerStars website as shown here.

Stakes 2 players:
% / cap
3-4 players:
% / cap
5-6 players:
% / cap
$0.50/$1 4.5% / $0.40 4.5% / $0.40 4.5% / $0.40
$1/$2 2.0% / $0.50 3.0% / $0.80 4.0% / $1.00
$2/$4 2.0% / $0.50 3.0% / $0.80 3.0% / $2.00

While I am not sure about whether the difference between $0.50/$1 compared to $2/$4 will be as much as 30% on average as I have little to no personal experience with average potsizes for fixed limit on these levels, but as you can see the rake is lower in percentages, but the cap is higher for all amounts of players at the table.

Hopefully this is helpful for a graphical overview.

Regards,

Richard

Thanks fruktpuff

thats where the confusion is

let say if i am paying $ 450 rake /month on $.5 /$1

if i play 1/4 of hands on $2/$4 with same ratio as in $.5/$1 ( for example ) isnt rake here will much less somewhere around $300 saving of $150 ?

Hey sim5, I found some slightly more detailed tables.

The figure below is from here. Your actual rake paid and your VPP/hand will depend on how much you contribute to pots.

Spoiler

My rake paid in BB/100 for 2012, mostly 6-max.
.5/1 = 3.53 BB/100 (should be a good guess for stakes below .5/1 too).
1/2 = 3.28 BB/100
2/4 = 2.85 BB/100

PokerStars is rolling out some small adjustments to the cap which was introduced in February. The feb. changes resulted in a small rake increase and they're correcting that now.

Changes will occur at Fixed Limit 1/2 and 2/4
3-4 players cap reduction
5-10 players cap reduction

I didn't hear exactly what the values will be... but its probably going to be a slight change.
