Hi ! I have a hand that I need to share with you guys, maybe you can make me understand where did I go wrong..
Cash game, live, NL 1$ - 1$ the blinds, 9 handed, everybody folds to the CO who raises to 7 ( loose aggressive player with a 150$ stack ), the button ( tight aggressive with 150$ stack ) calls the bet. I was BB with 6d 7d and I decide to re-raise to 20$ ( and 55$ behind ) and the both call.

FLOP 7s 8d Td

BB ( me ) Check, CO Check, BU - 18$, I push all in, 55$, the CO calls and the initial raiser folds...

TURN 2c

RIVER Kd

CO player shows Ad Qd

Please tell me your opinion about this, maybe the re-raise was too crazy, but what do you do if you decide to call the raise and you see the flop?!

Thanks !

why do you 3bet with a marginal hand vs a LAG who will probably call you all the way to showdown ??

flat call or 3bet all in pre imo, I don't like the weak 3bet preflop.
on the flop you pretty much have no choice

Hi Rahica,
I moved this to the No Limit strategy section.

Hopefully it will attract more responses there.

Let's say that if I call preflop ( which btw I think it's still a stupid idea in that game ). If I see the flop, with 60$ the pot and 55$ behind, I have to directly push all in, I would get a call and we have the same ending ( being impossible even for a TA player, or one who's not a maniac, not to call with two overcards and a flush draw a pot size bet )... So I guess the best solution here is to fold and wait for another day...

Yea the squeeze pre-flop is too loose. If you had a 100bb stack, maybe it would be ok because then you can bet bet bet for value against the LAG. But if you're this short, Rahica covered it, you're shuving any flop that you have some kind of equity on. The post flop action was fine (cause youre playing short stacked and it's a monster flop for you).

No offence sir, this hand was played terribly and if I saw this at the table I would immediatly label you as a fish.

Firstly, is the 1/2 or 1/1. Your post says its 1/1 but the thread title says its 1/2.

Ok, lets look at preflop first and lets assume its 1/2.
-With your stack size, the standard play is to fold pre
-You described villain as "loose agressive". Does this mean that you think he is competant agressive player or that he is a spewtard. Also what is your image?
If you are going to 3bet, just go Allin for $75, but only do this if you think he will fold a decent percentage of the time which is true of a very small percentage of live poker players IME (they dont raise/fold much pre in general).

Postflop (as played) just ship the flop. You have $55 and the pot is $61 (assuming no rake) making this a standard shove. This is one of the best flops you can hit with your hand so lets get them monies in and gamble (and perhaps occasionally get them to fold better hands which would be awesome).

Sorry about the mistake ! It was 1$-1$ the blinds, with rake in a small casino. My table image was LAG ( not that sure that in this limit, table image is that important ) with a couple of bluffs showed and his image was a "spewtard" as you say, playing a lot of marginal hands in and out of position.
I didn't post so that you guys can protect my feelings. I know I played bad so give me your best shot !:) I am here to learn. Btw, tx to everyone for your opinions !

You really shouldn't do anything other then fold preflop with your stack size.

Whats the point of making it 20$? You do know you can't fold if he ships on you since your pot commited. If you feel like there's enough FE pre then just ship it all in and hope he folds. I still prefer just a fold and do that all in ship with something like A5s.

You are doing the right thing. This is a great place to learn if you are willing to put your ego aside and focus on getting better. Given his image, its a trivial fold preflop.

So, in conclusion, 99% I should fold in this case, 1% I should squeeze shove. In this case, with that kind of player in the CO holding AQs, I don't really think that I have FE. Pretty sure I would get called there if I push pre. So fold keeps a healthy stack:)

The reason we fold is b/c with our stack size we dont have the implied odds to try and bink our speculative hand.
