Massive draw early in a tournament

I don't like to donk in there. Donking in this kind of situations, is good when the board doesn't fit the range of the original agresor. But with the A on the board, most likely you are gonna be reraised, and since it's the beginning of the tournament and we are deep, you wanna keep pot control. I would play it check/call and reevaluate the turn.

hi, i didnt donk, i was the original aggressor. just realised in the first action i didnt change my screen name to hero. do you think it changes with me as the aggressor? as i can rep the ace myself, and am semi-bluffing with my draw.

Personally i felt carrying on with the lead was ok, to try take the pot down right there, don't know what you think?

it was after being raised i didnt know what to do, i felt if i move in he has to fold all but a very tight range, and as he didnt 3-bet me pre flop, i felt ace-king/aces were unlikely. so there was a smaller percentage he had a hand he could continue with, thought he would have to fold A10 AJ in this spot if i move in.

oh, ok, this changes the situation completely.

So then let's count the odds. You have to put 480 to a pot of 1320, so you get odds of 2.75 to 1, and I don't have the outs calculator but you are around 3 to 1. Although it's a close call, I would either fold, or push all in to put the fold equity by my side.

But still, I would have probably checked the flop so I get a free card or a cheap card if the bu bets. The problem in this hand it's that you are not playing HU, you are playing a multiway pot with 4 other contenders, so you gotta keep pot control all the time so you always got outs to win the hand.

I think you need to take into account the fact that Villain has check raised here which shows strength. He is expecting you to lead as the preflop raiser so although I think you can discount 44, he may have something like 99, A9, AK or possibly a better flush draw.

I dont think your draw is "massive" and the problem really is that if you do shove you are only likely to get called by either the nut flush draw or a made hand like trips or 2 pair which have redraw possibilities.

I might be tempted to peel another card but I would say this early I probably jus fold.

That said it does also depend on previous action, was this a starting stack of 5000 or have you and villain been involved in other hands? Has he seen you open then fold to a raise for instance?

you're super deep... just call and reevaluate turn... and i would bet flop just like half pot... if somebody raises you can make a cheaper call!
