When faced with a standard raise 3-4BB do you always 3bet with AK? I find this situation arises quite often and I'm not sure how to deal with it. At the casino I always re-raise a raise in front of me with it and it does ok but online it just never works out, I either get the original raiser pushing over me or he just calls and then pushes all in on flop regardless and i find myself having to call. I think AK is my worst hand as i just cant figure out what to do with it. Anyone got any advice?

Not so sure about tourney play (i would raise), but in cash games you should 3bet in almost every case. I'm sure someone else will answer about the tourney play.
Situational obviously. These questions can never be answered with a generalised response. Deep stacked, without reads, just call a raise in position but remember that it's a drawing hand and you ideally want to be heads up at the flop.
yeah in cashgames I always 3bet with AK but my cashgames are usually at a casino, online SNG or tourneys i always find myself in trouble with this hand.
@Mannix, I'm usually against one player anyway, but i think my problem arises from early position, I raise 3BB and get a re-raise, usually i jsut shove unless its a really tight player, middle position is a problem as well, if I raise and get re-raised I always seem to automatically go all in. Just seems like such a difficult hand for me to play correctly.
That sounds standard to me, as long as you're commited. If villain 3bets then you usually can't 4bet without being commited anyway so it's just better to push. I would lean towards a fold though. Again, all situational.
in sng , you find later in the game a lot of players will push with just about any A and generaly AK plays well with only two hands dominating it
you dont need to risk to many chips early in a sng and on the lower buy-ins these guys will call any raise

1. deception
2. you often only get action from better hands if you reraise
3. reraising makes you play big pots oop often.

i 3bet in MTT, because i 3bet wider in MTT, and i need to create an aggressive image so i'm paid off easier
