NL Holdem $50(BB) Replayer
Hero ($2,125)
BB ($1,700)
UTG ($1,875)
UTG+1 ($1,505)
CO ($1,295)
BTN ($500)

Dealt to Hero 4♠ 2♣

fold, UTG+1 raises to $100, CO calls $100, fold, fold, fold

FLOP ($275) 8♣ J♠ 9♦

UTG+1 bets $100, CO calls $100

TURN ($475) 8♣ J♠ 9♦ 5♣

UTG+1 checks, CO checks

RIVER ($475) 8♣ J♠ 9♦ 5♣ 9♥

UTG+1 checks, CO bets $175, UTG+1 calls $175

Spoiler

CO shows K♥ T♥ (Pre 61%, Flop 36.3%, Turn 22.7%)

UTG+1 shows J♥ Q♦ (Pre 39%, Flop 63.7%, Turn 77.3%)

UTG+1 wins $825

MP is a very strong reg $100s+ (21/16, 400hs). CO is thinkingreg1 mentioned in earlier hand. Huge MTT winner, top highstakes reg etc. BU is a fish. SB and BB are regs.

I want to try to understand thinkingreg1's thought process here, given the assumption that he presumably believes this is a profitable play. I think it's pretty non-standard play, but I'm not gonna say it's bad b/c that's frankly arrogant given our respective pedigrees.

OTR, it seems CO represents a thin value hand like AJ/KJ/TT vs missed draws or hands like 77. The bet might be ok, but betting turn w/c/t seems more usual?

Thoughts on the whole hand/situation?

pre-flop is the only close street for me. 1/13th of his stack flatting this with no antes, im not a huge fan. but what ever.

i love his turn check. he doesnt want to bet/fold and by checking he can rep thin value on the river (especially with his small river size). against a good reg the turn check is representing a much stronger hand than a turn bet. especially because his pre-flop flat reps the weak-ish range which would usually check turn. his story would make less sense with a turn bet.

good to see these games are still spewy as fuck, opening QJo in the 2 seat with 4 regs behind is a STRETCH.
