this guy seems kind of aggro on the flop with such a high raise flop % of 21%.

I think bet/call on flop is spew vs majority of players. Even if he just has a single spade he already has at least 33% equity vs you (and they usually c/r flop with a high spade so that gives them added equity the pair outs to the Ace or King).

and if we dont really want to be forced to bet/fold, checking back for pot control is fine. don´t just mindlessly bet flop just because you want to `protect your hand`. Keeping the pot small and inducing bluffs is more important when your hand isn´t too strong.
