This is a satellite to the hot $2.20. During this hand I'm around 25th out of maybe 40+. And 35 gets the ticket. UTG limps which is generally fishy BUT he is a silver star. So I think he's trying to trap with AA. I check in the bb obviously and hits trips on the flop. If he really had AA or KK obviously I crush him. I'm only truly afraid of QQ at this point. I don't think he will limp Qx here. I check and he bets, I call. Turn is Q but doesn't change much as I felt that he wouldn't limp Qx UTG. I check call, river is the same. He had QQ which means my near 100% chance of securing a ticket is gone. What should I have done here? Do I ever open fold the bb in these spots? Or fold flop?

Just get it in on flop, if you think he is trapping with AA-KK then i dont get why u dont raise flop.

I don't think that is the point here. If we were both deeper stacked or if this wasn't the bubble I would definitely raise. My concern is whether I should just give up without the nuts when I'm almost certain to win a ticket in this satellite. 65 is a hand with great RIO no matter what you're up against.

Shove flop man. If you put him on KK+ AK then shove it up into his grill.

If you're only carrying on with 55 here then why call pre? hoping to hit 234r?
65 does not have a good ROI against any hand. If the bubble is an issue, then fold pre. You hit solid, so shove it.

Hey Tommygecko!

If you have a safe ticket its a ch/f on the flop!
If you need to accumulate some chips to have a ticket for sure, just get it in on the flop!

Greets,

If you actually read my lines, you would realise i checked PF. It was stated freeplay in the title too.
