maybe you should use the pokerstrategy hand converter, your suits are not showing up.

as played multiway ill probably raise the flop and bet the turn, unless its a rainbow flop then maybe we can slowplay.

Weird...sorry I just posted about 10 hands, not very useful if none of the suits are showing...I am using the Pokerstrategy hand converter. The suits show up when they convert it..but get lost between copying and pasting it here

It wasn't rainbow. So when does "protecting your hand" become "isolating yourself against stronger hands".

I am often reluctant to raise big with things like this (not the absolute nuts). It's probably because I play a lot of PLO, but I always have a logic in my mind that raising is just folding out worse hands, and isolating against anything that has you beat??

Is there a consideration of his position? I.E. he always has position on me, so if he is aimlessly floating, or trying to hit a flush, he can do it fairly easily unless I bet big on the flop? (But then really I want him to be calling with flush draws, as I'm betting so strongly...???)

as played flop is pretty dry i think we can slowplay, turn i would bet myself since MP2 checked and also river i would jam in myself for value. i dont like check/calling, hes probably checking back his 7X 9X Ax hands and but these hands could call a bet.

1) look at it from a value perspective. on a 237 board with one flush draw its unlikely anyone has a hand, so protection and immediate value is of lower priority since its unlikely anyone can outdraw you.

2) however on a say 5 :spade:8 :heart:T board and we have 55 i prefer raising immediately since there are more draws, but you could still argue for a call against a super aggro person.

3) make the board 9 :spade:T :heart:J and we have TT and it becomes an easy raise no matter what the action since we want value immediately and so many hands can draw against us.

using the same example for "isolating against stronger hands" you notice that

1) there are few hands that can call us, raising isolates against the stronger range like sets and overpairs

2) more hands can call here maybe straight draws overcards, there are more worse hands that can call

3) so many many more hands can call our raise now, straight draws, flush draws, 2pairs etc

the positions have to be used in relation to his tendencies/statistics. if hes in position and we check to him is he going to bet? is he going to call wider or bet wider? basically we want to find the solution that allows him to continue with the most money and also the weakest hands.

we want to bet if hes calling wider than he bets.

we want to check if hes betting wider than he calls.

and on this kind of board there is really nothing that can call which is why i dont mind slowplaying.
