First of all, welcome, I joined here today, to sort out my weaknesses and improve as a player. Sounds like you're seeking out for the same too, so welcome aboard.

I've been playing for a few years now, and your experiences sound like when I first started out, I think they call it going on 'tilt' i.e. the monkey inside of you comes out, it takes over your emotions and it is dangerous! I learned the hard way as well by being a losing player, but I do win games now, perhaps as not much as I would like, but certainly more when I first started out. Most of the progress came from challenging my psychology, i.e. learning not to tilt, just folding intelligently (or even when I know I feel I'm tilting and not knowing why I'm going 'all in' for).

I'm sure you'll get lots more advice from way more experienced players here, but you say, you play 2 cent games, and it's not harming your wallet (which is a positive start), and you seem to know when you're losing, so I would start right there, try folding sometimes when you feel the urge especially when you don't know why you're going all in. Also, when do you go all in, ask yourself simply, why am I going all in? If you have a good reason, i.e. you've made the best hand, you've worked out the other person is bluffing or they have a weaker hand then got for it. Justify what ever move you make. Also, when you fold your hands, and the other players are still in, observe their activity, and try actually guessing their cards as the game unfolds. Again, I'm sure there are lots of advice to improve your game, but take it one tip at a time.

Also consider, I would consider SitnGo games, you can get really low stakes games here too. I think they instill some the discipline you maybe not picking up as cash player, worth a explore.

Definitely a wise choice to join our Beginners course! If you keep up with the lessons and put in a few hours study here and there you will definitely have the tools to turn into a winner in the micro cash games!

Where are you playing your poker at the minute?

You sound like you are at a very early stage of the learning process. I would recommend you NOT play cash games at this stage. I think you would be better served by playing some freerolls or low Buy In SnGs.

This will give you a chance to play around with your hand ranges cheaply, until you find the right balance for your particular style, while continually learning from PokerStrategy's content and the many friendly and knowledgeable people in the forums.

You may think playing NL .01/.02c doesn't sound much, but you can still bleed of money quickly.

In my opinion it's always better to practice as cheaply as possible.

I know that feeling. ♦ Heads Up can be fairly uncomfortable for me too.

I actually improved my HU play when I learned this key stat.

68% of the time the flop will miss your opponent. Which means 2 out of 3 times he won't improve on the flop. Most times a bet here, even if the flop misses you too will take the pot.

However if he wants to play with you here, tread carefully.
