A Less Than Optimal Way Through Poker

Hi,

My name's Chaney and im a 19 year old student from England. I play a lot of live poker with my friends, usually Nl10, but not so much online but seeing as uni is out, Ive gotta make the switch to get my fix!

Seeing as this is the first post i'll attempt to explain why my name is so lame. DavidNegranu originiated from when I was in 6th form and I had just introduced a good friend of mine to poker and he came in a couple of days later having watched some poker on TV and said 'Omg I saw David Negreanu make the sickest read ever yesterday' and it somehow stuck as my screen name. I know its lame but hey, most in jokes are!

I'll be blogging about the progress I make online but also the live home games I play online as well as the occasional stars home game that I have with the people I play with at uni mixed with some that I play with from home. Any notable hands and funny/interesting things I see or play i'll post in here and any feedback is welcome!

I mainly play zoom online because I enjoy the fast paced action and not sacrificing some of the skill that you do by multitabling. However, the main problem that I have with playing online is that I get very anxious when I play and consequently I just cannot play a long session at all. Im booked in for some coaching with BierBaer at the end of July so hopefully he'll be able to help me with that, either directly or by giving me the confidence to overcome it. I love talking about poker though and any other micro stakes players who wanna talk a lot about poker pm me and i'll send you my skype details.

So today was the first day that we played a home game on stars and its fair to say that I feel like i have a huge edge in these games seeing as I would estimate being up around £400 playing vs these guys live at NL10. However, I was running pretty salty and it just wasnt my day today, but hey, it happens! I feel pretty good that i only finished down $8.94! With the two flushes I dont think theres a lot I could really do. With the set I probably should have raised given how co-ordinated the board was but my opponent was playing pretty lose, something like 38/27 and pretty aggro too so I wanted to trap him and let him barrel off his stack which he had done quite a bit in the session. It just didnt work out this time.

This one was super frustrating because 66 was a hand I would hope to be able to fold out with a check raise on the flop and certainly a bet on the turn and even though he called i had 68% equity on the flop, pretty annoying when you flop a huge draw and it come banana banana! He made a good call though and he does know my game very well so props to him!
