PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (9 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with Q, Q
2 folds, Hero raises, 2 folds, CO calls, 2 folds, BB calls

Flop: (6.5 SB) J, 3, Q (3 players)
BB bets, Hero ?

I think call on flop is reasonable?
I don't want to kick out CO with his worst hand.
On the other hand, flop has a straight draw.
So what do you think?

Hi Backcushion,

I like to raise directly on the flop. Eithe for protection but for value sometimes as well.
If you raise on the turn you get 1 BB from BB and sometimes 1 BB from CO.
If you call you get 1 SB from BB and more often 1 SB from CO.
So the flop is most of the time the same.
On the turn you gain 1 BB very often from BB if you raised the flop and very often a 1 BB from CO as well if he called.
If you wait for the turn then sometimes BB checks and you gain the same. If he bets then CO will fold most likely as well.

Uh now that is complicated and I guess it's too weird to understand. ;)

In short: You gain slightly more with a turnraise but you give CO and BB one additioal card to draw out on you. It's close but I prefer the flopraise.

Openenders i think will call you anyway. But raise can force out weaker pair and weak draws. This board is not super dangerous, you can call for a raise on turn.
