6 players, 2 players after the flop.
My stats: 23/17/03
My villian stats: ??, i do knwo he doesnt give up very easily. 3 hands earlier he made thin value betpot on the river.

Me utg raise 3x with 9s9c
Vilian sb calls.

Flop: 3c8c4h
Villian checks, I bet and he raises to 2,5 x of my bet. I decide to call: he could raise with a lot of hands and draws. I do not want ro reraise and see him going all in. Bad spot to do that.

Turn: 4c
Check, check. He stiil could check raise me: don't want to open that door.

River: 2d
he bets the pot. Me?

Hey Pokerboy,

Almost all draws that your opponent could have raise got there. A5, clubs, 65.. Only draw that busted is 76 so I'd say folding is fine here. He can still have 33, 44, 88 ofc and just try to let you catch up with some hands once he fills up.

Well the size of the betpot told me he either wanty to represent a bluff and really wants to get a call or he wants me out.
In first case he would be a great player, but i didnt think he was. I think he wasnt a type of merge bets, more value bets like 60-75% of pot. So that brings me to a second case; he wants me out. I made a call and he showed me KcQh...

This call i base on a type of the payer and on the expectations of his moves..

Heh, you just said in the first post he was capable to vbet thinly for pot size. What makes most sense is that the flop raise size is too small for value so then you can go a bit more cally and snap call all your bluffcatchers.

Well, thats true, but i am questioning about that thin value bet. I think he just turnded his hand into a bluff and not so to a value. Was scared that his top pair was dominated by a better kicker and turned his hand in to a bluff or just didnt want to get raised by betthin big himself. Thats what most amateurs do: they want to bet themselves to cover their wekaness and doubts. So thats why i put him to a second category of players. Why i think he turned his hand in to a bluff? Because of the bet sizes. And i mean not on the river, more on the flop and the turn. Bet pot sizes: that doesn really look like a thin value bet. People bet less on flop or the turn (some pot control) to make a good value bet on the river (sometimes thin value bet, merge hands).

Against me he just gave it away with a check on a turn and way bigger bet than a value bet on the river. Couldnt put him on a merge hand so he must be bluffing... Maybe my judge is wrong, but i do really think he wasnt good enough to make a value bet so big to get a call of me.

In long terms i will lose this hand against an average player, but that earlier hand gave me some info about his style, levels and thinking proces.
