Hey D,

I would not open A9o as a default from CO but as played, check/calling is probably the worst option. Your showdown value is not very high (you are not extremely like to have the best hand) and your opponent's bluffs are high equity (he usually has 6 outs or better with the hands he is behind). Playing passively in such a situation will generally be unprofitable, unless you have some fancy check/call range in such spots.
