I see no reason to raise the turn here.. why do you raise ? he 3bet preflop indicating he has a good hand. you flop second pair which is a good board and pair against his many Kx and higher Ax than yours. But when the 5 comes its a good card but still theres no reason to raise. what are you expecting him to do fold his better hands ? if you let him bet you get more value than letting him have the chance to fold or check the river if by any chance you are good here against him.

turn giving you a nut fd is not enough imo to raise.

I like the raise, the 5 of hearts does open up alot of draws and A3 is still ahead vs BB range (though I am kinda uncertain what that range is so I just went with something along the line of a CO 3b range, he might be loser or tighter) and you need to raise a valuerange here that isnt only TP+, this board did not hit him good, he will call with alot of his high cards, every A has a gs draw here, and even against the range that has you beat, overpairs and such, you still have loads of outs here with a gsd, Aces against an over pair and a fd. You also have and implied odds here vs Ax due to that stronger aces might raise you thinking theyre good, Think its played as it should. The K does mess it up on the river so a check back is ok imo.

I think its a nice valueraise on the turn.

Have to agree with floaty here. This is very close to being to a clear cut raise for value due to all the outs in a 3-player deal. Add to this the fact that either or both of them may still be drawing with overcards. But the hand is not so good that you want both of them to stay in.

If it was heads-up, then I'd go with Avataren's reasoning. But it being 3-handed changes things completely.

Hi!

Raise flop. Yes BBs range is strong but that also means AQ,AK are high in % so vs him equity should be pretty decent since even if he has an overpair your 5outer+strong BDs gives you are very lively draw... I would say around your equity vs him is slightly over 50%. But then you rly want to kick Sb out because on this board I dont really see him folding much to just 1 bet and basically any hand has at least 3-6 outs against you which is a huge chunk of equity if you make him fold...and hands like J8,K5,78,... will fold.

Turn is interesting but puts you into somewhat of a hard situation which could have been totally avoided. I also agree this is a raise since I think bets will go in slightly better than when you call. Appart from that you still want SB to fold since he still has a decent chuck of equity with random overs and vs BB you are not rly doing that bad. When behind you are usually drawing ti 17 outer and obviously you can be ahead. When he calls your raise I would then check river unimproved(especially this river since now only reasonable hand you beat is like AQ,maybe AJ) because I would say valuebet is slightly too thin at this point. Drawback of this line is if you get 3bet which I would say you have to calldown...pot will be huge and he can easily just be a spazz.

So yes... raising I would say is higher in EV but obviously is very high variance, could have been somewhat omited by you raising the flop.

I agree to dawnfall! I would also just raise the flop right away and force SB'S Overcards out and see if BB 3bets or not. AN easy and cheap way to find out where you're at in the hand and if you're playing against an overpair or against Ax. If he's just calling flop and Turn i'd go for another valuebet on the River. Obviously not on this card.

The raise on the Turn isnt that bad since you got a bunch of outs and players on the low limits just see the raise and feel you have a strong hand although you cannot really raise a lot for value unless you slowplayed a set which i wouldt recommend either. The only hand you can just represent is A4 but thats a really thin valuerange and you may be facing a 3bet by an overpair so with your tons of outs and the chance of being still ahead against AJ AQ AK its ok but your always have to think in terms of how your whole range plays out and your line looks uncredible.

River is a clear check then :)
