Hi,

Ok, villain is obviously a reg. We had a little history due to the fact that I stationed him with middle set when he flopped top set AAA in a 3bet pot, and he was telling me how bad I was because I didn't pay him my whole stack:

SB: $20 (100 bb)
BB: $20 (100 bb)
Hero (BTN): $25.42 (127.1 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 4 8 4 8
Hero raises to $0.60, SB raises to $2, BB folds, Hero calls $1.40

Flop: ($4.20) A 3 4 (2 players)
SB bets $1.60, Hero calls $1.60

Turn: ($7.40) 7 (2 players)
SB bets $4.60, Hero calls $4.60

River: ($16.60) Q (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

Results:

Spoiler

$16.60 pot ($0.83 rake)
Final Board: A 3 4 7 Q
SB showed 5 A K A and won $15.77 ($7.57 net)
Hero mucked 4 8 4 8 and lost (-$8.20 net)

Generally though he was playing pretty straight-forward though and folding a lot to double-barrels and not really being too difficult.

Obviously a standard open pre-flop and a pretty great flop with middle set + nut flush re-draw. I'm pretty happy to stack off to aggression on the flop. The turn is weird though, I hadn't played too much with him but I really doubt he is raising anything other than the nuts here. He looks like he's waiting for a safe turn to get it in. Am I crazy here? Should this be an insta-stack-off on the turn? I was a bit confused with this spot and marked it straight away. Let me know what you think.

Thanks

From the descrption you give of him he is a terrible reg. Why the hell would you pay him off more in hand 2?

As played, i like the way you played it tbh. Some strong players take this line with blockers as they prefer pot raising the turn when vulnearble. But in general, you played it fine. I would never reraise turn. I think villain here either blocker bluffs or has the straight, so a shove wouldn't make sense.

Regards,

skod
