Final Pot: $5.99.

SB: 43/21 over 21 hands

Hey Viewer88,

Preflop is fine.

Flop and turn barrel are fine.

Generally we don't want an ultra-wide bluff range on the river when the board pairs. J9o is pretty weak and doesn't block the busted spade draw. It's ok to fire here. Whether this is profitable overall depends on which other hands you are firing river with etc, but in isolation this hand is fine.

Thanks!

Can you expand a little bit on your reasoning at the river?

The fact that the board pairs isn't bad here for a bluff imo. I get a lot more FE vs lower aces and villan won't have a 7 here all that often.

VS an unknown I'm not gonna bluff hands with showdown value here like Ax, KK. I might be tempted to bluff with Qx hands but propably wouldent.
When you say that we don't want an ultra-wide bluff range here you mean that we don't want to bluff too often on this river?

You say that J9o is weak and doesn't block the busted flushdraw. What exactly do you mean by that, and is it good or bad in this hand?

I guess it's just commonly accepted poker theory that when the board pairs we represent less legitimate value combinations, i.e A7, Q7, 77. For this reason our barreling frequency on paired cards should be less than on other cards.

Yes, we want be selective about which hands we fire on the river. We generally want to bluff with the worst hands we get to river with only. (Worst in the sense of their value, but best in the sense that they have good blockers)

If we were to hold a hand like K:s9:s, it means opponent can't hold some of the spade draw hands that are typically folding the river here. So when we construct our bluffing range here we want to use cards that don't have any spades in them. J9o is ok for this - it has no spades, and J high is still weak enough that it probably doesn't ever win at showdown.
