Hi,

Villain 16/12/1.0 52h

T: When villains call flop and raise turn is most of the time a set. In this hand, the board is very dry which made me think that he could play this way with AQ.

But, what made me call, was the size of the raise, really small, amost a minRaise.

If I call here, I'll have to call a river blank.

How would you have played?

Thanks

1. "When villains call flop and raise turn is most of the time a set."

Yes

"In this hand, the board is very dry which made me think that he could play this way with AQ."

No

I don't think this line of reasoning makes any sense. He has absolutely no reason to raise AQ here.

Just bet-fold the River cos when people raise the Turn at NL2-NL10, it's a 2-pair or better type of monster made hand 80%+ of the time. This is a population read that applies to everyone and unless proven otherwise, you should always bet-fold the Turn here with a 1-pair hand.

2. You need to have a plan when you call the Turn. What are you putting him on? If you put him purely on monsters, you have to fold immediately. If you think he has AQ which would shove blank rivers, you should definitely call down. If you think he has bluffs, then you must have a rough idea on whether he would barrel the River as well.
