BTN: t610 6.10 BBs
Hero (SB): t2190 21.90 BBs
BB: t1790 17.90 BBs
UTG: t2660 26.60 BBs
CO: t2750 27.50 BBs

Pre Flop: (t150) Hero is SB with 6 :club: 5 :club:
UTG calls t100, 2 folds, Hero calls t50, BB checks

Flop: (t300) T :club: 7  9 :club: (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets t100, Hero raises to t800, BB calls t800, UTG folds

Turn: (t2000) T :diamond: (2 players)
Hero bets t900, BB calls t890 all in

On the flop I decide to chkr/get it in with so much equity. And after a check and such a weak bet on the flop I'm pretty confident I'm ahead equity wise, but then the BB flatcalls and I don't really know what to make of it. I mean I can't really think of a made hand that he wouldn't protect on this flop (except maybe a slowplayed straight). The villain is a fish so anything is possible of course. The turn is paired but I'm not too worried about him having Tx and I have a lot of equity still so with this SPR it's an easy jam imo.

Thoughts?

Stats:

BB: 30/20/2.0 aggr f.
UTG: 42/21/2.6 aggr f.

Good line on the flop. With < 0.3 SPR on the turn the best play is shove. You, of course, still have equity. You actually have fold-equity a small % also. wp

6 high flush and low end of the straight => some outs should be discounted

If the money goes in we are behind.

Why not just call on this flop and choose a passive line?

The draw is quite bad - why risk 22B with it so early in the SNG?

I think the spot is worse than it seems at first.

yes you should discount outs. But I still think our combo draw is strong enough to play aggressively on the flop. We are in terrible shape against 7c8c, but AcJc/AcQc/AcKc would all raise pre and not check BB. I also like raising because we can get them to fold better hands like 7x/9x.

I don't think playing passively is necessarily an error(it is fine to be cautious in limped pots), especially if you think you have a big edge over the other players in late game. A good line to take a more passive approach is to c/c to river then decide whether to donk bluff if you miss. Certainly a valid line in this spot.

nice addition to the thread. thnx for posting.

If you think BB is folding 9x then we should check/fold turn.
BB most likely has a T or a draw with higher cards than hero=>check/fold
If BB is a good player he often has a monster after the weird cold call on the flop.
Hero's turn equity sucks against all pairs and draws.

I would use a smaller flop raise size if I played the draw aggressively.

As played we need fold equity on the turn which we dont have against a decent BB.

I'm not saying he folds 7x/9x 100% of the time. Just saying it is possible.

Just repeating myself now.

With < 0.3 SPR on the turn the best play is shove.

This rule of thumb is not taking into account the specific situation in this hand.
I am not familiar with Ongame but on ipoker in a similar game going all in on the turn is a clear mistake without a reliable read that BB is one of the very few spewy fish.

Hero's equity would be in the low twenties with nearly neglible fold equity.
Just not enough to warrant a push. (There is a small bubble factor to take into account too mainly because of the small stack at the table.)

So it all depends on your guesses about BB's range.

How do you see BB's range on the turn?

we don't know much about him, so i assume he is a fish. which means I think he can have 7x/9x/QJ/4c3c and once you add these hands in his range 2 things happen 1. we have fold-equity and 2. our turn equity is >20%.

I don't know why you hate playing aggressively here. Simple fact is we have a flush draw + straight draw on the flop when both our opponent's ranges are super wide (irrespective of our draws being the low end, UTG has 40-50% range and BB has the bottom 80% of hands). Your flop equity vs theirs is going to be best on average.

I will repeat myself again and say I do not disagree with playing passive here either. But, being aggro in this spot is not bad.
