With the US elections drawing to an end, we now know that Barack Obama is the new president. What do you think his impact on online poker will be? After the UIEGA was enforced, the situation looked quite bleak. Do you think Obama's nomination as President will have a positive impact on online poker regulations? Or will things stay the way they are, or perhaps even get worse?

With the utter mess left behind by the Bush government, I somehow doubt that the UIEGA and other poker-related stuff are on his priority list...
at the end of the day, it all depend on lobbying when it comes to american politics.
Is there enough will from the online poker companies to lobby against the landed casinos who are quite obviously behind the UGEIA. If they put in the money to hire good lobbyists to fight for their profits, things will change, if not.. meh
Don't know. But with new people in the white house there is a chance. Allowing american players to play online poker is better for the rest of us. American players=greater player traffic. Maybe pokerstrategy could offer barrack some free starting capital. LOL.
In one of the videos on Daniel Negreanu's blog he was saying that Phil Ivey once invited him to go to a Obama... well you know a thing with Obama. He and Phil Ivey actually had a chance to speak with him afterwards. He recognized them and he took a few dollars from his backpocket and said: Here look, I played poker last night, I won!!! Daniel didn't want to bother him with the poker laws at that time, but anyway, Obama is certainly no poker hater!

And as far I know, the House has been democrat since 2006.
im definitely glad obama won. imo he is actually gonna help online poker and im sure mccain wouldnt ;p

I see that as a positive video for poker in the U.S.'s future.
But I watched a news report on canadian national news,on friday, and it suggested that the provincial government is not happy with the grey area of the law that the Kahnawake servers are operating under on the Indian reserve.Arguing a loss in tax/gambling revenue's, and that the province is planning on dealing with it.
I keep watching the news but nothing else yet.
