I feel like this happens to me more often than it should. Did I make a bad call here slow-playing the set?

Hi jacktwo,

Disclaimer: I am NOT a coach!

Over and over I hear the advice "don't slowplay at the micros".

Versus shortstack preflop, any 3Bet would result in getting it in, and since these players are shortstacked and loose, you might consider forcing them to shove or fold.

On the flop, by not betting all you do is give them free cards.
On such a wet board, you MUST make them pay for the privilege of seeing the next cards.

On this hand, you may get called, and may end up losing more, but in the long run betting is the way to go...

Do you have Equilab?

If not, download it and play with some ranges.
Like this one, for example:

Preflop

       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    31.27%  30.15%   1.12% { 77+, ATs+, KJs+, QTs+, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, ATo+, KJo+, QJo }
MP3    31.27%  30.15%   1.12% { 77+, ATs+, KJs+, QTs+, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, ATo+, KJo+, QJo }
BB     37.47%  36.94%   0.53% { TT }

OTF

Board: Q♠T♦8S
       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    13.93%  13.04%   0.89% { 77+, ATs+, KJs+, QTs+, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, ATo+, KJo+, QJo }
MP3    13.93%  13.04%   0.89% { 77+, ATs+, KJs+, QTs+, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, ATo+, KJo+, QJo }
BB     72.14%  71.99%   0.16% { TT }

The only way to make money from such a strong hand is to bet it.

However, I'd be interested in what others think here.
This seems to happen to me far too often.

Peace,
