UTG: $20.86 (208.6 bb)
MP: $12.32 (123.2 bb)
CO: $13.96 (139.6 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A 3
3 folds, BTN raises to $0.20, SB folds, Hero calls $0.10

Flop: ($0.45) K 4 A (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $0.30, Hero calls $0.30

Turn: ($1.05) 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

River: ($1.05) 9 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.40, BTN calls $0.40

BTN- 33/23 hands, AF 30

In these spots where villain goes cbet flop check back turn and I have a value hand I typically go around half pot but the thing is i almost alway expect a fold. I know that he can still have some pot controlled second pairs and weak top pairs. Is 1/2 pot good or smaller better you think?

Hi legand73

Preflop: looks fine

Postflop: Ask yourself a few things. Are you more likely to bluff or vbet here and furthermore what are we targeting?

Can you expect third pair to pay off? If so how much?

Probably a lot more value bets because of positions and action pre. Targeting Kx mainly but it's doubtful whether he checks back turn. Some third pairs might call here because of how often we could be bluffing though but maybe our current sizing looks more like a value bet

I think that anything that calls there can comfortably call 1/2 pot which is what I'd aim for (maybe slightly more, at 60%).
