Villain has 9.2% 3Bet pre-flop.
His post-flop aggressions is 100%
About 100 hands

In rush poker I don't 4Bet a lot (8%)
My own 3Bet% is about 5.5 overall, but this varies widely session to session.
My fold to 3Bet is 71% That seems high, but my Attempt to steal is about 40% so it doesn't seem out of line to me.

I did not want to be OOP w/o initiative.

AJo is pretty much the top of my fold-to-3Bet range.

Under these circumstances, is a bluff 4Bet justified?

Full Tilt - $0.02 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BB: $1.44 (VPIP: 50.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 2)
UTG: $2.00 (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 5)
MP: $1.76
Hero (CO): $2.55
BTN: $2.12 (VPIP: 24.81, PFR: 22.66, 3Bet Preflop: 9.09, Hands: 130)
SB: $1.31

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has J♠ A♦

fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.06, BTN raises to $0.20, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.50, fold

Spoiler

Hero wins $0.00
Hero wins $0.43

Thanks,

I dont see any value here..Your allowing villain to play perfect against you he shoves all the value hands and folds all the marginal ones.
You could call pre to keep bluffs alive + he could have a hand like KJ QJ or Ax which u dominate

Yeah, I know, but somewhere along the way, you have to put the brakes on someone 3Betting nearly 10% Sample size not enough maybe.

Furthermore, he has position. If I call him he has initiative too, If he calls me, at least I have that.

Assuming I right and he is 3Betting light he will get away with it as long as people let him. 4Betting -- even 4Bet/folding -- is putting the brakes on. The value comes when he 3Bet/folds. More value comes if he notes me as a player who isn't blown off pots easily.
Even more value would have come if he sees I 4Bet AJo in CO -- I might then get paid off by him in a future hand when I hold AA/KK etc.

I was more worried I 4Bet too small.

However "fold all the marginal ones" is good enough for me, as I consider AJo in CO a bluff.

Hi VorpalF2F,

I think it's a good hand to bluff as it contains two blockers to his 3b range.

However, doesn't the value come when you're ahead?

- AJo as a 4b is folding out all air, meaning there's likely to be little value if he calls or shoves.
- If he folds then you're not getting any value, you're just capturing the pot.

AJo as a call vs a BTN 3b is probably dominating his bluffing range and you're likely to face at least 1 cbet. I think you can get more value this way.

Of course you are OOP, but you have to decide how much that pushes you towards bluff rather than call - I think it depends on how comfortable you are OOP.

What say you?

I normally fold AJo OOP to a 3Bet from BU, since I'm OOP, so when I 4Bet here, it is with the intention to fold to a 5Bet -- even if it isn't a shove. Note that if the 3Bet comes from the blinds, I'm calling all day long, since now I'm in position.

A "normal" BU 3Bet range would be something like TT+, AQ+
I do NOT want to play AJo vs that range OOP postflop, I'm way too likely to be out-kicked on A-high flops, and J-high flops aren't a lock. If I miss the flop, I'm likely dominated vs a normal 3Bet range.

Equilab:[

Spoiler

       Equity     Win     Tie
CO     27.75%  26.30%   1.46% { AJo }
BU     72.25%  70.79%   1.46% { TT+, AQs+, AQo+ }

J-high rainbow flop, I'm a 2:1 favourite

       Equity     Win     Tie
CO     41.99%  36.65%   5.33% { AJo }
BU     58.01%  52.68%   5.33% { 88+, ATs+, KTs+, QJs, AJo+, KQo }

However, this guy is 3Betting 9% overall (I didn't check how often from BU -- not a large enough sample). Against a 9% range I have way better equity

CO     41.99%  36.65%   5.33% { AJo }
BU     58.01%  52.68%   5.33% { 88+, ATs+, KTs+, QJs, AJo+, KQo }

So the original question was, "Is this a good spot to bluff?"
Two people so far think it is better to call and play post flop. But to me, the only other option is fold.

Value in 4Bet bluffing isn't about the money even if you have to fold to a 5Bet, you show aggression, and you disguise your value hands. If they see you 4Bet/fold, they may try to 5Bet bluff you when you DO have a hand you can go for broke with.
