Raggy doublesuited Ace on 3bet pot

I would fold pre.
With A8xx you would have ~60% vs random 8xxx so i think it's ok to go broke with SPR 5.

Pre is the easiest call in the world of omaha with such a high SPR: you have position and a decent hand here, and need to make 1,55$ call for a pot of almost 6$. Being IP gives you a lot of postflop manouverability as well, and villain has to fear a little about the guy being AI.

About the question of the 88x boards. What hands would you prefer apart from A8xx? It means you have the best kicker. On a board like 883 you will usually have 3 overcards even in the unlikely even somebody holds 83, so a stackoff is a nobrainer.

With the SPR of 5 it's very tough to ever fold trips, but folding them with the best kicker is almost never a good idea. Maybe sometimes with undertrips, but with overtrips i can't find a fold in an spr 5.

After the initial call, second call is easy. But I would fold to the original raise because the hand is pretty bad and opener is shorty. Against his range hero is never ahead and there aren't a lot of implied odds. So the value would come from the blinds, and it is unlikely they will play anything else but a really strong range here.

What range do you think such a player opens the pot with and with what range are you happy to call him?

Impossible to give a clear range, as it really depends on opponent. But the fact that he is 3betting against UTG open and BTN call while 300bb deep with BTN, he should have a really strong hand. Premium aces and maybe premium rundowns with an ace. If he is more aggressive, he could 3bet here with medium rundowns, double pairs etc. as he thinks hero doesn't have aces.

Sorry Kyyberi I didn't phrase my question properly..What range do you give the short-stack on UTG for opening the pot and what would be our default range for calling..I suspect mostly broadway hands?

Without a HUD or any information on what/how he has played before, that is really hard to say. But what ever he has, we are rarely a huge favorite preflop. As he has SPR 1 or less otf, there isn't a lot of value we can get from him. With hands that have showdown value (AA, good kings, premium queens) I would tend to 3bet and realize my preflop equity. With hands that hit a lot of flops but don't have yet showdown value I would like to call.
