IPoker, $0.10/$0.20 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

SB: $40.58 (202.9 bb)
Hero (BB): $25.24 (126.2 bb)
UTG: $9.01 (45.1 bb)
MP: $7.80 (39 bb)
CO: $5.30 (26.5 bb)
BTN: $21.61 (108.1 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K A
UTG folds, MP raises to $0.60, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.40

Flop: ($1.30) 8 2 4 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $0.91, Hero calls $0.91

Turn: ($3.12) Q (2 players)
Hero checks, MP checks

River: ($3.12) T (2 players)
Hero bets $2.40, MP calls $2.40

Preflop: Decided to call. Since he is a shorstack, maybe I could 3bet and try to get it in.

Flop: I didn't hit, but I believe I can't just check/fold AK every time I miss the flop, so I decided to check/call. I could hit the turn or he could stop betting the turn, so I could bluff the river unimproved.

Turn: Planned to check/fold, but since he checked back, the plan was to bet any river.

River: As planned on the turn, decided to bet and make him fold one pair hands.

MP: 50/50/6 (VPIP/PFR/H)

I think the plan for the hand is OK. Maybe a little bit smaller bet otr would also work.

I think we do not have to bet here as nothing worse is calling.

I'm not betting to get called by worse, but to make better hands fold, like 3rd pairs or so.

Btw, I see now he is with some small stack (I thought initially he had 39 $ ) and I think this hand is better to 3bet preflop and just push almost every flop. Pobably the guy is fish.

You did not show aggression on previous streets, why do you think villain is going to believe you? :)

In this situation on microstakes you should always bet, imo. They will believe you enough times to make it profitable. The reason is that players (including me, tbh) don't defend their checking ranges enough, especially turn checking ranges.
