Here I think I should often raise preflop a bit bigger and check OTF to control the pot coz too high cards will try to bully us out in position. I guess that if we call the turn we should be ready to call the river, do we want to make such expensive decisions at the early stage - more likely that no.

Pre-flop sizing is fine and I would also Cbet the flop and fold on a raise.
If you call you need to hit a 3 on the turn and that’s only 2 outs.
