PokerStars - $0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

CO: 101.4 BB (VPIP: 19.77, PFR: 15.12, 3Bet Preflop: 3.13, Hands: 88)
BTN: 193.4 BB (VPIP: 21.21, PFR: 18.18, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 34)
SB: 105.8 BB (VPIP: 11.76, PFR: 11.76, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 18)
BB: 79.8 BB (VPIP: 27.27, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 12)
Hero (UTG): 103.4 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has J♦ 9♦

Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, fold, SB calls 2.6 BB, fold

Flop: (7 BB, 2 players) T♥ 9♣ J♣
SB bets 3 BB, Hero raises to 11.4 BB, SB calls 8.4 BB

Turn: (29.8 BB, 2 players) 8♠
SB checks, Hero checks

River: (29.8 BB, 2 players) J♥
SB bets 21.4 BB, Hero raises to 55 BB, SB calls 33.6 BB

PF - 5-max and I decided to open from EP.
Flop - board is very and I hit two pairs - I think this is clear c-bet for value (OESD, FD, TP would pay).
Turn - nothing to say - check back.
River - do you think I should shove here or make a small raise that he can call me with his straight? If he uses his brain, he might be afraid of a paired board and fold if I bet too big.

I'm not sure about flop raise. Villain can have sets, JT, straight.
OTR is ok.

RIVER IS A SHOVE!!! Qx will call a fare amount of the time thinking you are splitting.

I like it as played here. Villain could be tight and I would not be very sure if he calls off a shove. Hard to get value from nits so a raise like this looks OK IMO.

In the long run shoving has more EV.

Yes, but only against very bad players. River overbets work best when you do not represent much, like when backing into a low straight on a high 2-flush board. This here is the opposite.

And they are not very bad players?

If they are that good they would play higher limits. :)
