BTN: 123.06 BB (VPIP: 39.01, PFR: 27.86, 3Bet Preflop: 10.00, Hands: 147)
SB: 57.32 BB (VPIP: 51.11, PFR: 26.67, 3Bet Preflop: 19.05, Hands: 46)
BB: 119.74 BB (VPIP: 27.85, PFR: 24.05, 3Bet Preflop: 23.81, Hands: 80)
UTG: 99 BB (VPIP: 28.80, PFR: 17.89, 3Bet Preflop: 17.95, Hands: 198)
Hero (MP): 104.1 BB
CO: 71.14 BB (VPIP: 18.50, PFR: 6.69, 3Bet Preflop: 1.74, Hands: 260)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has Q♠ 8♠

fold, Hero raises to 2.24 BB, fold, fold, SB calls 1.74 BB, BB calls 1.24 BB

Flop: (6.72 BB, 3 players) A♣ 2♠ 4♠
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets 4 BB, SB calls 4 BB, BB calls 4 BB

Turn: (18.72 BB, 3 players) 3♦
SB checks, BB bets 8.9 BB, Hero calls 8.9 BB, fold

River: (36.52 BB, 2 players) 2♦
BB checks, Hero ....

Kind of a loose open... a fish was sitting in the SB and the CO and BTN didn't seem like big threats for an aggressive move.

Postflop, cbetting should be good with all the outs. Now, OTT we get the correct price to call including implieds. I think Villain is having the straight and would be a bit more OTR to make this call +EV.

So I call, and as soon as the board pairs he checks. Kind of weird... would he check the straight? What can he have? A draw? Or is he really in bluffcatching mode vs the exact hand-type that I have?

I thought about overbetting to rep the boat, for a second, but then discarded it... thought it may be -EV and I would get called too often here.

Tricky Spot

A bit wide open from MP imo. Postflop looks ok, I would give up OTR.

All players behind you seem very 3b-happy, so opening this hand from MP is not that good. Only CO is passive.
Postflop seems fine. OTR we do not represent much with a bet, so xf is ok.

BB has 5x a lot of the time here IMO. I don't like bluffing this river and you have a few lower combos you can turn into a bluff (stuff like 89s, T9s, 78s etc). I think it's a give up spot.

If you did want to bluff, I think overbetting is something I would do. It's not likely that he folds 5x vs. a regular sized bet, but I don't think he has a boat here very often at all (I think he does something else on the flop) and we definitely have all boat possibilities, so there's some merit to overbetting large (1.5-2x pot) because we have a top end range advantage (meaning I don't think he takes this line with any boat).
