Yeah, your raise preflop is way to small. I bet the turn also here, because you raise preflop was so smal he can have any Jx in his range and he will call again.

Raise 2.2-2.5x pre, bet flop, bet turn, bet river.

The pre-flop sizing isn’t a big mistake, but I would go also for 3 streets of value with AA against a tight aggressive player in the BB. It isn’t to likely an 8 will help him on long run on the turn, because only a hand like 88 and A8 are hands he maybe defend with in the BB and with 2 8’s on the board it isn’t to likely he has those hands.

Cheers,

You are right he isn't very likely to have an 8 but not because of the reasons you're stating. If he is a bit of a competent player, he defends WAY more 8's than just 88 and A8. Think about 78, 89, T8, 58s, J8s, ...

He has alot of Jx in his range too, not to forget a decent amount of straightdraws against which you at least want to protect a bit. If you were OOP, a check on the turn would be more justified as he could be floating a decent amount of the time and you want him to want to pick up the pot.
