Comments
Hi all, looking for some tips on this hand. I play against an okay player (looks like a regular). On the flop and the turn I just make standard cbets (for value this time). But on the river, UTG3 shoves all in.

I thought about his range and I think he would do this with:
22,33,77 (full house)
TT+ (two pair)
QTs+, KQ, AQ (trips, high kicker)

I'm sure he has a made hand and because he is pretty tight, I don't think he could have Q7,Q2 or Q3, doubting about QTs. So via equilab, I have about 73% equity... A sure call, am I right in making my assumptions?

Spoiler

He shows 77 and wins the pot...
I was on a losing streak, lost 2 pots where I flopped the nuts and went all-in with 67 percent equity, only to lose to a paired board... So I thought I might have misjudged his range on this spot, because I might;ve been tilting.

22 does not make FH... You missed 99...
It is hard to fold trips here but still xc/xc/donk push is strong line.

I think bet bigger on both streets.
fold to the shove unless you know villian does funky lines, it looks like 99 and you aren't commited.

The question boils down to do you put a weaker Q in his over-shove range, and more often then not ( especially regs) will not do this with a weaker holding.

You're right, I meant 99 instead of 22...

I think he will have weaker Qs or TT+ in his shoving range, although he looks like a reg, it is still NL2... Some other information I forgot to mention. I was playing a bit looser than normal, so my vpip was around 35... So he might have thought that I would call the all-in with something like 89, or 78.

You can even check on the flop

I really can't see a pair like 10s+ be in his range unless he's a huge fish.

It is a 3B pot and it is NL2 so I don't think the call is ever going to be too bad, and it's not a common spot so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
But betting bigger both streets is the leak here.

@dad
I'm never checking the flop in a 3B pot at NL2 with trips. Really bad line.

Okay, thanks for your feedback, so about 60% flop and turn would be better? I bet 40% on the flop because I wanted him to call with worse hands.

Make standard half pot bets.

Yes, primarily we want to set up stacks for a river shove assuming the board runs out nicely.
On the flop I don't think 40%/60% bet size will effect Villains range. If he has a pair, he's calling. If he had a FD, he's calling. We want to build a pot ASAP.

I think you have several options OTF. I can totally agree with checking because we hold a very strong hand and at the same time block villains good hands that could call. His range probably doesn't have many flush draws and we have a redraw. Sometimes we can extract more value by checking our very strong hands. It sometimes is better to xb with strong hands if villain is not going to call all 3 streets. Now we pretty much block the hands that would call.

However I can agree with betting here too. Mostly because this is NL2 and ppl might call too much.

I'm not sure if I would be able to fold OTR. Our hand is very strong and only reasonable hand that beats us is slowplayed 77.
