Hello, I am a new poker player and have been playing for around 2 months. Tonight I was playing in a tourney at a local casino. I had just doubled to 100k and was ready for the final table... It was only a 1000 prize pool, top place taking about 400, so nothing major. This is how it goes down.
I look at my cards and have King Queen of spades. Not a bad hand, flop comes Ace of clubs, Jack of diamonds and 10 of clubs. So I hit the nut straight, I was so fucking happy. Everyone folded but the chip leader, who had pocket Jacks, one club and I presume one heart. I bet 5k he called and we saw a turn card, this was a club which made me shit my pants, can not remember what number but didn't help me obviously. Anyway he shoves all in and I'm really concerned he had the flush, but I really really didnt want to fold my nuts. Fuck it felt good. So I called I was happy he had jacks and I was in for a win. 3 clubs on the table, he 100% called me because of the jacks not because he has a flush draw, who the fuck shoves 250k chips with a like 20% chance to win?????? anyway I got fucked and a club came out, I mean shit happens I don't care about the money its the fact I got so screwed by a set of jacks with 1 club, not even two in his hand.
So did I do the right thing? would a more skilled player fold jacks if he suspected I had the nuts?
