You say good bankroll management is key - but what if I only have £10?

When your bankroll is low, it is necessary to avoid the higher-variance forms of poker -- spin & go, MTT and so on.
You could play the bottom NL stakes -- NL 2 is pretty much it.

You might consider limit poker, but the people I see playing that are quite good.

Try picking your time so that there are a large number of recreational players around -- Friday evenings are usually good.

Also, look for freerolls, and promotions.

Finally, if you really and truly have only £10 available to you, are you really sure you want to risk it?

One principle of sound (poker) bankroll management is "Know how much you can comfortably lose"

What? No PokerStars? I would strongly urge you to reconsider. PokerStars is the market leader (65-70% of all traffic), it has the best client, the best tournaments but it will also have the best players and the biggest fields. To answer your questions, there is little you can do with £10 that won't have a high risk of ruin because of the natural variance that comes with poker. This is why Bankroll Management is so important. Good players need to have a cushion against a downswing as they know that they will make more out of upswings and even stretches than they will lose on downswings.

I don't have like £10 as my last source of money, I just don't want deposit like £50 and lose it all, because I know I am definitely capable. I am a young poker player and still learning the more "advanced" basics like dealing with bad beats and heavy swings. I am not trying to pressure myself, just want to advance my skills and not worry about earning money from poker, just trying to build the bankroll.

Cheers for the advice, still unsure which to use. They both definitely have their advantages.

If you do some googling 'Free Poker Money - No Deposit Poker Bonuses' you will soon find out that there is plenty of free no deposit money available to new players to join various poker sites. You will have no problem in accumulating enough money to fully bankroll you for 2NL. Even if the bankroll is spread on different sites - you will still be rolled.

I would heed the advice of Lassa and join Pokerstars first. There you will have an aggressive bankroll for the 0.25 45/90 player tournaments. You can then start to grind up a bankroll playing these games which are the easiest on the site.

Thanks for taking the time to reply everyone. Yeah, I think I am going to give PokerStars a shot, I never realised they could have over 70,000 users online at once. No deposit bonuses are something I should definitely look into, I have only ever used one for 888 before and there are plenty of sites out there. Do you think I should sign up for Stars and just deposit, or do you believe I should wait for one of their no deposit offers? When googling, I found that throughout several parts of 2016 and in February 2017 they had a no deposit offer with some spin & go tickets. One would assume they do another one in a couple of months or so, should I wait or just open an account asap?

Did you ever try winamax? Their client is just awesome. Better than pokerstars imo (bet sliders config, hand history on a tab on every table <--- ultra convenient)
