Should I have played this hand differently? I guess a checkraise on the turn might be better, and if he checks the turn I can realize my equity better and I also have some showdown value with A high. I though that I could get him off a overpair by betting big on the turn.

Poker Stars $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

BTN: $5.71
SB: $13.65
Hero (BB): $5.26
UTG: $8.47
MP: $13.06
CO: $6.06

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero is BB with 8♣ A♣
1 fold, MP raises to $0.12, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.07

Flop: ($0.26) 7♣ 5♠ 3♠ (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $0.14, Hero calls $0.14

Turn: ($0.54) 4♣ (2 players)
Hero bets $0.26, MP calls $0.26

River: ($1.06) 8♦ (2 players)

That might have been a possibility on that board if you actually did bet big on the turn. 26 into 54 = 80 so he has to call 26 cents to win 80. Do the math.

In any event, I would have check called the turn and gone from there. As played, once again, I would have checked the river. Maybe you did have showdown value but it was never realized because you bet into him OOP with a busted flush draw and did so with a sizing that was far too small to work as a bluff. You really need to work on your sizings along different streets.

Why should I bet bigger on the turn?

I don't think calling A8 on BB vs MP is a good idea. I think it's best to 3bet or fold. If you want to make a move OTT, it's best to start here OTF. Raise OTF since you are OOP and there is not much use in calling. We stab again OTT and if called again, we give up OTR. This way, we have more fold equity than the line that we took here IMO.

weird line.
i would fold flop 90% of the time, if i call the flop i would definetly go for a c/r on the turn. (as the board runs out)

this small lead is weird, what do you try to rep here, what hands do you expect to fold out?

bet on river will only make worse hands to fold and better hands to call/raise

You are giving him too good potodds with this bet. He has to pay 26ct for a pot of 80ct. that means he need to be right only about 25%.
Any overpair and draws will call correctly. But also betting bigger won't do much good imo. I expect overpairs to call all "normal sized" bets OTT anyway.
I also don't see why you want them to fold with a donkbet Those are the hands that will pay you off if you hit your draw. Keep them in the hand in case you hit.
A c/r OTT seems to make more sence to me too. you get extra money if he bets and folds. The pot is bigger if he calls and you hit and you get a cheaper way out if you don't hit OTR (or reraises you OTT).

For the record, I would prob fold pre to that larger than usual openingbet. I would deffo fold OTF. There is really no reason to peal a card. There is no card in the deck that really helps you. Any ace sucks. an 8 is hardly something to hope for. A club gives you some hope but very little...
