This is a hand from a satelite to the Sunday Million, we are on the bubble more or less. I would be interested to hear what people would recommend for both preflop and flop. Overall this guy in the SB is VPIP 12, PFR 9, 3 bet 7% over 52 hands - everyone at the table has been quite tight considering that things are hotting up.

PokerStars - 5000/10000 Ante 1250 NL - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 9.39 BB (VPIP: 24.30, PFR: 19.59, 3Bet Preflop: 13.33, Hands: 109)
SB: 10.88 BB (VPIP: 11.54, PFR: 9.30, 3Bet Preflop: 7.14, Hands: 52)
Hero (BB): 11.78 BB
UTG: 2.56 BB (VPIP: 9.68, PFR: 6.33, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 95)
MP: 9.85 BB (VPIP: 24.14, PFR: 19.23, 3Bet Preflop: 11.11, Hands: 30)
CO: 14.49 BB (VPIP: 15.58, PFR: 15.63, 3Bet Preflop: 13.64, Hands: 78)

6 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.25 BB) Hero has 7♦ 2♦

fold, fold, fold, fold, SB calls 0.5 BB, Hero checks

Flop: (2.75 BB, 2 players) 6♠ 6♦ 2♣
SB bets 1 BB

I don't remember exactly, but I think there are 8 seats, I have the seventh biggest stack and there are around 16 players left in.

If this was on the bubble I wouldn’t take any risks anymore, but with still around 50% of the field needs to leave the tournament it could be a spot to set ICM pressure on the limper, but it’s suspicious that a tight player isn’t shoving right away on you or folding and I would still check and calling his 1 bb bet on the flop and her-evaluate the turn. No need to raise on him, because then you get only action of better.

Cheers,

RedHeater, I thing fold pf is the best risk rewarding action. Otherwise I prefer to use a raise/fold range and 72s was into, 1st because BB is a nit and should fold a lot of hands.

Thanks for the advice - by the way, I got a free check as he open limped the small blind. I wondered afterwards if jamming is good because he doesn't want to go out of the satellite. Its a 4.40 + R satellite to a $215 dollar tourney, so many players are going for a tourney beyond their normal bank roll. Of course he can be trapping....

On the flop if I jam I guess he only calls with a 6 or pocket pair? I wonder how many of these are in his range.

A 6 is possible, but a pair he should push himself. Off course he’s a nit and he could limp hands like 22-55 here.
