Hey guys,
we are at the beginning of a 9-max turbo SnG and I got 8♣ 8♠ - and messed up (my gameplan was a bit messy here, was not sure what to do).

What did I do wrong and how can I play this hand better next time?

I would just fold the Flop this early the tournament and this amount of C-bet (~75%), since if it costs me 10% already on the Flop, i can only imagine how much it would cost me on Turn _ugly:
But i'm not a turbo player so my advice might be nitty

Pre-flop is already close to defend against a 4x MP open for set value, but I don’t think it’s too bad. Based on the Call20 rule for set value this would be a fold. The flop is dry and you could be against a smaller pair or A high and is calling not too bad in a far behind or light in front situation. The turn I would fold. I think you are in best case against a suited A♠:X:spade: hand that will 2nd barrel here.

Cheers,

Thank you for your input! Calling for set value is unprofitable that´s right, miscalculated here. Either 3-bet and stack off or fold, should have folded the hand pre. On the flop I thought my hand was good enough to continue. Awkward situation!

I prefer a fold pre next time.

I too think calling preflop is not that bad, it's only 5% of your stack and by 5/10 rule that's a call.
You also have position which is a great plus for set-mining and good implied odds against what seems a moderately aggressive guy.
You're not multiway which is bad but i would never fold pre i think here, but would do post-flop.
