Poker Stars, $3.19 Buy-in (15/30 blinds, 4 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: 1,510 (50.3 bb)
BB: 1,562 (52.1 bb)
UTG: 1,111 (37 bb)
MP: 2,057 (68.6 bb)
Hero (CO): 1,231 (41 bb)
BTN: 1,529 (51 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q♦: A♦:
2 folds, Hero raises to 82, BTN raises to 240, 2 folds, Hero raises to 1,227 and is all-in, BTN calls 987

Villian is VPIP 38/ PFR 16/ 3B 11.1.

I think by pushing he might fold some pocket pairs and weaker aces. If I call in this situation and play OOP vs AK with ace on the flop, he will probably shove vs my cbet and get stacked anyway.

Should I shove in this situation or flat and play only if I hit a queen or draws?

Calling a 3bet out of position isn’t great, because you need to fold if you miss and you only hit this board in around 1/3 of the time and we invest around 20% of your stack with calling.

This is for me a push/fold spot and with AQs I would shove as well against an aggressive 3better like him.

Cheers,

So you are saying you put him on AK then. I would play this OOP and see a flop, no need to get fancy with 40bb. This guys range is wide and we can connect to a lot of flops

I would just fold against an unknown since it gets expensive for either pursuing a flush draw or hitting an A that might cost your entire stack.
Against a player of 11% 3-bet pushing seems good enough since with a 11% range will have around 55-57% equity and more if we add fold equity. Plus he usually will 3-bets hands like Axo and folds right away.
Push or fold but not call for me.

With calling you invest 8bb of the 40bb. How you want to win this back post-flop without initiative on long run?

Though there are some questions left ....
- sample size (it might be totally not useful if 1 out of 9)?
- stats filtered for position (if 11,1 is combined, the actual 3bet % might be higher)?

... 3bet shove is fine. We have blockers and therefore do well against villains 3bet callrange. That, combined with the dead money already in play makes this a +EV play imo.

Don’t forget it’s a 4bet shove now. Blinds (1 bet), raise (2bet), 3bet (re-raise) and 4bet shove :f_wink:

I would flat and see the flop. Shoving 41 BB is a little bit "over the top" imho.

Call pre, then fit or fold? Or what?

Exactly! Why not? I wouldn´t jam 41BB, I would play post-flop. We still can get out any time without loosing too many chips or our whole stack.

How did the hand turn out? What did Villain have?

Thats not a plan. :f_wink:

Well, then here we go:

*call Villains 3-bet and see the flop
*If we hit, we wanna make Villain pay unless he´s showing really strenght (reads)
*If we don´t hit anything we proceed carefully or push Villain out of the pot :f_tongue:
*our actions depend strongly on Villain, what he does, on what we put him on

P.S. "Cool, why not?" is at least already half a plan :f_biggrin::f_biggrin::f_ugly:

What range do we put villain preflop?
"*If we don´t hit anything we proceed carefully or push Villain out of the pot :f_tongue: " On what boards? xraising a lot? floating certain flops and then turn?

urm....YES, I AM a 0,25-player yet: indeed! :f_biggrin::f_ugly:

Villain 3-bets in 11 % of the time, so with the best 11 % of his hands which means:

77+, A8s+, AJo+, K9s+, KQo, QTs+

This should be his range. Out equity against his range is = 54,6 %

On a dry flop like: 2♠ 7♥ T♦ we could check-call ----> we have showdown value against his range?
If we hit a pair and the nut-flush-draw, we stack off, we could bet out and if he raises, we jam
If we hit the A, we stack off, maybe call his c-bet und x/r then river?
With only the nut-flush-draw we could x/r the flop (push him out of the pot or hit our draw or have the best hand anyway?)

....something like this..... ?
