Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

SB: $2.85 (142.5 bb)
BB: $3.61 (180.5 bb)
UTG: $1.32 (66 bb)
MP: $20.60 (1,030 bb)
CO: $1.93 (96.5 bb)
Hero (BTN): $3.23 (161.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 9♥: 9♦:
2 folds, CO raises to $0.06, Hero calls $0.06, 2 folds
I am happy to call here in position.

Flop: ($0.15) 2♦: 5♥: 5♠: (2 players)
CO bets $0.11, Hero calls $0.11
CO cbets the flop - I don't think he has many 5s in his range - 65s, 55 maybe A5s?
I call his bet. I think this was an okay line?

Turn: ($0.37) 3♠: (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets $0.24, CO calls $0.24
Doesn't help anyone I don't think - CO checks which makes me believe he definitely doesn't have a 5 (unless he is slowplaying of course). Check after the cbet on the flop makes me feel like he has a couple of over cards? When he calls does that point to a made hand of some kind? A3? Pocket pair?

River: ($0.85) 5♣: (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets $0.55, CO raises to $1.10, Hero ?
River comes a third 5 - pretty certain he doesn't have a 5 still though - after his check should I have checked also, as I wasn't going to get any better hands to fold only call?
When he check/raises me - does that put 5 back in his range? (I still don't think he has one). Or does it point to a pocket pair? TT, JJ, QQ? Does this point to a bluff? Obviously, TT+ beat me, does he check/raise with a lower PP - I would expect really to call with lower?
Think I made a mistake betting the river - what do you think?

99 is a decent hand against a CO range and you could consider to 3bet this hand.

As played I would call the flop and make a thin value bet on turn and river as well.
His raise on river looks strong on a dry board like this, but it’s weird he isn’t betting the turn with TT+ and a 5 isn’t to likely ether and I don’t think it’s to terrible to call here. It’s a nasty spot for sure.

Cheers,

I'm not sure if we should be betting the river and if we bet should it be smaller. How often villain plays 66-88 this way?
As played, I think villains minraise OTR is always the nuts on these stakes but folding would be very very difficult.
