Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players

SB: $2 (100 bb)
Hero (BB): $2.19 (109.5 bb)
MP: $2.74 (137 bb)
CO: $1.13 (56.5 bb)
BTN: $2.09 (104.5 bb)

Villian has 70/0 stats - so I have him down as a massive fish - he has never 3bet and has an AF of 1.1

Preflop: Hero is BB with 4♣: 2♣:
MP folds, CO calls $0.02, 2 folds, Hero checks
I see a free flop. Fair enough.

Flop: ($0.05) 5♠: 2♦: 9♦: (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks
Yippee - bottom pair - oh okay I'll check/fold - get to see another free card.

Turn: ($0.05) 2♥: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.03, CO calls $0.03
Oh nice - hit trips on the Turn - I quite possibly would have bet the Turn anyway as it seems he is pretty weak.

River: ($0.11) 4♠: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.44, CO raises to $1.08, Hero calls $0.64
This is where I tried some different ideas out - please tell me what you think.
So I hit a Full House on the River - but of course other (better full houses are also on with the board paired)
I recognise I am playing a fish and figure I'll over bet the pot to see what he does (you never know).
When he raises my overbet - should I really just assume he has it? Was overbetting on this board silly? I figure as he is a fish I might as well call. Should I have?

Results:

Spoiler

$2.27 pot ($0.08 rake)
Final Board: 5♠: 2♦: 9♦: 2♥: 4♠:
Hero showed 4♣: 2♣: and lost (-$1.13 net)
CO showed 4♦: 4♥: and won $2.19 ($1.06 net)

You could start with a lead OTF. You have a pair and he is playing with a super wide range. He probably has nothing and will just play fit or fold OTF.
OTT I would just bet at least pot size.
OTR very difficult / impossible to fold. He could have just trips, a straight, 2pair, overpair etc...

70/0 on what sort of sample?

Even on a low sample I don’t see a reason to bet the flop with bottom pair against a fish we don’t need to change our hand in a bluff and if we have some showdown value as well if he’s checking. Now we are improving and I would go for value all the time and I would play it like this for sure. Only I would bet the river like 6c. No need to over bet that much.

Cheers,

Smallest FH I have learnt (painfully) is much like 2nd pair more often than not beaten by a bigger 2P/FH.

Thanks guys - the sample was about 50 hands at the time - I have about 80 on him now and and hasn't changed.
