So in this hand im faced with a real tough call on the river. Take a look at the hand and let me know what you would do in this spot.
NL Holdem $0.25(BB)
SB ($69.23)
HERO ($31.92)
BTN ($24.6)
First some stats on the Villian here.
Hands: 391
VPIP: 26
PFR: 23
Agg% 34 (not a stat I use in game, but wanted to include it here)
AF 2.7 (again stats I dont use in game)
Cbet 61%
Cbet Turn 27.3%
Dealt to Hero A♥ T♣
BTN Raises To $0.6 (Rem. Stack: 24.0), SB Folds, HERO Calls $0.35 (Rem. Stack: 31.32)
So in the BB, with a less than 2.5 BB raise, this is an easy call for me with ATo. If he had bet 3 BB or higher, its something I would fold being out of position post flop, but with the smaller bet, this is a standard call for me with ATo vs the Button.
Flop ($1.30) A♦ 9♣ 4♣
HERO Checks, BTN Bets $0.82 (Rem. Stack: 23.18), HERO Calls $0.82 (Rem. Stack: 30.50)
Being out of position, even with the paired board, this is standard for me to check here as I always expect a cbet here with this flop from a reg with a 60%+ cbet stat. Plus I have always noticed his aggression on the tables. To no surprise he does cbet me here, and of course 27.9% pot odds, im going to call it with top pair.
Turn ($2.94) A♦ 9♣ 4♣ 3♣
HERO Bets $1.39 (Rem. Stack: 29.11), BTN Calls $1.39 (Rem. Stack: 21.79)
Hmm so now we get a 3 of clubs. I try and not assume a flush on the turn from my opponents because they are tougher to hit than people think, and I learned a while ago not to assume your opponent has the nuts, so right now I feel like im still in the game, behind maybe but still in the game. Actually with the flush draw out there, I decide to lead in the betting this time to represent the flush in the hopes that he puts me on it and folds. I only bet half pot here, which might have been a mistake. A larger bet might have been better in this spot, as my 1/2 pot bet doesnt seem convincing enough to represent the flush. It almost looks like a bluff now that I replay the hand while I type this. He of course goes ahead and calls the bet.
River ($5.72) A♦ 9♣ 4♣ 3♣ 5♣
HERO Checks, BTN Bets $10.25 (Rem. Stack: 11.54),
Ok so what would you do here? I have actually decided in this hand review to leave the result out of the post. I can post it later, but for now I want to see what you would do in this situation facing a huge overbet by the villian. Would you put him on a bluff here and call him, or would you assume he has you beat with a better flush and fold it? This is such a tough spot that took me almost my entire timer to decide what I would do, and if I had even longer than the timer gives you, I would have taken every second to make my decision.
