Hi everyone,

I recently heard about [Edited] where U.S. citizens apparently are still allowed to Play for real money. From what I read on 2+2, European players can also register for real money play. Now I have a few questions and hope that some of you can help me:

1. What's the difference between [Edited] and banned poker rooms? Is it state-regulated or somehow affiliated with the government?
2. How safe is it to deposit money (especially if you are NOT U.S. citizen)?
2. Is there a difference in rake and thus profitability?
3. Has someone tested it? What's the player pool like and which kind of games are offered? Is the traffic ok?

If it is a viable Option, I would be tempted to dip my toe into the U.S. fish market again that we were robbed off since Black Friday :profit:

Hi DaToepFa,

We cannot provide much information about this since the room you mentioned is not our partner room. That is also why I had to edit your post a bit. Please see https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=347065

I don't have any personal experience with american rooms and I'm not planning on getting any, but I think I can help you with some of your questions.

First thing is that there basically are no banned poker rooms. As I have understood it, online poker is not illegal in US. It is only illegal to process money to online sites. That is why most of the rooms have decided not to offer games in the US (there are some states that do give licences to poker rooms and they can operate normally). But there are no federal laws that would make playing poker illegal. So it might be legal to play on those rooms but they are not regulated and they do not have a license.

The rake information you can find easily with quick Googling. But what I have understood, in most cases it is higher than some other rooms like Party and Stars. I have also heard someone say there are a lot of bots at the lower limits but don't know if this is true.
