I think i would do the same as you, you are short and a shove of 3bb could be with a wide range so reraising here to isolate him seems a good play.

Only if the BTN is a nit or something I would consider folding against a 3bb shove. It’s to bad you run against the top of his range. He can easy shove with any pair and any suited connector.
