Turn is an interesting spot

If you never bet the Turn for thin value and protection, he will never check as a trap
If you love to bet all your medium strength hands, he should often play overpairs as a checkraise

If he never check/raise bluffs ever, but may check/call plenty of worse hands like 78s, AK, then this is a clear bet/fold
If he sometimes plays A8s/K8s/AK as a check/raise bluff, then this is a bet/call

Would probably prefer bet/calling 88 than 99 due to the increase in number of outs when behind but you also reduce the likelihood that he's doing this move with 8X.

Don't really mind the fold, he probably has overpairs way too often.
