Hi,

I have a one really weird hand here from 5.50$ Sunday marathon. I probably did not play it perfectly but idk. Preflop is standard 3-bet with JJ I think. A new player at the table from BB calls which makes me kind of suspicious, especially when I 3-bet UTG+1. Flop is kind of ok but not great, he can have a lot of Kings in his hand and easy check them and also some overpairs so I check. Turn is another small card which makes another flush draw. I think I should have bet this turn probably... I mean if I get check-raised I have no idea what would I do... Fold, if he can c-r a lot of flushes, no idea? So I check again. And flop completes backdoor flush. And he donks for pot. Ughhhh so bad. I hate it. Feels so bluffy. But I know these pot-sized bets on rivers are so often value bets when he gets there with flush or pocket 77. I mean I hate this fold but it was a bit deeper and felt like I had to. Am I too week fish? Thanks for every piece of advice :).

Betting the turn would be better for thin value and protection. Fold on his over bet is fine for sure.

Hi, I also like the fold, I would defiantly value bet the turn and fold to any sign of aggression, i think players don't come anywhere to close balancing there river over bets as bluffs as well as for value like you already said they have nearly almost got it when they do it. Well played making the fold...

Why dont cbet on the flop? Or bet turn its only control pot and had a free showdown?

If you Cbet the flop you are changing your hand in to a bluff and if you check behind you keep his range wider and on most turns you can call if he would lead.

Not really turning hand into bluff by cbetting flop but it has several problems. One is what to do if villain check-raises and also aiming for more than one street value after betting flop would be really thin. So check simple has lot of advantages also because JJ won't need that much protection.

So check flop, bet 8-10bb on turn with plan to check most rivers. As played BB should have hard time of having 7x in cold calling range pre, Kx would probably not pot it and you have blocker to flush. So personally I don't hate call at all. But yeah unknown guy so he could have many 7x if he happens to be πŸ‹.
