Hi,

I wasnt writing anything in my blog for quite some time and more or less I was just recreational player who said he wants to go big but never took action and was lazy. Last month and half though I said to myself I should be doing more or just pack my things, leave for good and get a job. The though of getting a job was so disgusting for me I actually started working on my game and grind more.

I didnt want to start writing a blog right away because I know myself and usually I just get motivated for a while but next downswing comes and my work ethic goes down again and it gets hard to get back at it. What made me acually start again is that last month was pretty hard. I was running pretty bad and lot of things around seemed on a way to hell. Not gonna go in details but lot of money was frozen for a long time. Had some troubles with my investments etc. Still even when all this hit me I kept improving my work ethic and my mindset was surprisingly good :f_cool:. And finally in the end I was able to turn things around save all my investments with some profit keep coming back at the tables and even made some mediocre profit of 1300 USD in 1.5 month. Sure it is not much and in PLO where there is lot of variance one can never be sure but it really jump started me to take it REALLY SERIOUSLY and become a PLO PROFESSIONAL! _cool:

By being professional I dont mean become billionaire etc but have PLO as main source of income and have a correct attitude towards poker as business and work on myself hard (not that I dont have high goals but first I need climb some smaller hills before I reach for the sky)

I will post usually on mondays some short summary how it is going and at the end of the month some bigger post where I evaluate how it was what I should improve etc.

This month I will aim for:
Mark of 40k hands in terms of volume. (It is not much and in my opinion it is border line for being a Pro but I think this is something that will be still difficult for me as I want to play 6 days a week only and I play only 4 tables at once)

Settle on PLO50 6-max (I am shotting for PLO 50 at the moment but swings in PLO are huge + my bankroll isnt really still suited for this limit with constant withdrawals so we will seee but I would like very much play mostly on 50 this month)

Strenghtening my methods for progression in poker area (I believe poker as any business have few big areas (5 in my opinion) that are connected and all have to be optimised in order for someone to turn profit. I mean I seen people with huge knowledge of poker strategies who I could imagine getting to high stakes in no time and still see them fail hard over and over again. Why? They lack something else lack something else like correct mind set or using correct tactics or they have no proper way of organizing and constant interruption during paly and can never play the A game. I created something similar to a blueprint where I put these 5 pillars and each pillar has certain topics and I try to improve these topics 1by1.)

Improving my health (long story short I am delaing with some medical problems and doctors werent much useful and couldnt find why that is. After some time of visiting hospital all the time and leaving with no info and my time being wasted I told myself fuck it I will start living mor ehealthy on default and hopefully it becomes better)

Go Panda!

As you have had mental game challenges earlier (being lazy etc.) what have you changed to expect different outcome now?

@deralte7 thx lets rise together

@kyyberi thx. Its more smaller things but mainly two things. 1. has to do with accountability I write myself a journal now on daily basis and every day it has same structure I write what was the problems that day possible solution a what did I actually implement. next I always write my session and time stamp on which I played and little comment like how many regs at the tabels were how did I feel and where did I feel most lost like for example bluffcacthing. last two things I have tehre are habbits I actually did just to check if I am still implementing those and my wrongs for example that I organized the day very badly or had a beer etc. 2. thing is more about expectancy I was always sad when I wasnt doing good and was having swings etc. It was really good for me to play with pokerdope.com to see what swings and variance I can expect in different sample sizes and win rates + I realized I have to keep working hard to actually overcome all this and since I started writing journal I have instant self reflection. I think I should be winning more and I look and I see that in that week I didnt do as much as I wanted for example or it is still far from doing "a lot" and instead of getting sad it actually motivates me to do more. will see that is what I am working on now and there might be also outside factors I dont even know about etc mind set is prety hard to masterbut i am working on it and I am willing to fail few times before I get it right :f_thumbsup::f_thumbsup:

This week was bit of dissapointment because I got sick and 3 days I spent on the toilet so didnt paly any. Today I am finally better and gonna take some session to get back at things and going at full throtle tomorrow again. Beforehand I had another unsuccessful shot to PLO50 and gonan have to grind a bit again on 25 but it is fine I think I played well and just ended up on bad side of variance and chance of happening that again is very high considering I take shots frequently and only for few BIs.

One more thing to report is I am thinking of joining Jnandez program PLOmastermind so if anyone has feedback to it I welcome it. Thats all for now next update in a week cya:f_cool:

Hey Panda,

hope you feel better healthwise. The journal part sounds like an awesome idea. While watching Kyyberi and Nutraisin on Twitch, a lot of players in the chat seems quite pleased with the Mastermind program. Apart from Kyyberi and Nutraisins twitch, i can recommend Rulazpokers quiz on Twitch. Hope you make it back to PLO 50 soon. GL and GG. As Kyyberi says, follow his month with the Mastermind, and get the inside of the Mastermind.

thx for the feedback guys I really appreciate it. I checked kyyberi's thoughts and probably didnt lookl properly because found only one mention about program directed to cbet OOP. What I understood from that is you feel like both your and Jnandez startegy will have similar EV on micros and have certain traps higher if not executed properly and with follow up plan and basically it is more based on playystyle you prefer to choose form those startegies (feel free to correct me if I got it wrong)

This month probably I wont take it yet and will focus on finishing my latest audio book (focused on mindset: can't hurt me from david goggins) a most likely will try it for one month from the 1st. and focus that month on a lot of studying (not meaning I will go through bunch of videos but more of repetition so I get really good value from it and dont get confused and decide wheather to take it next month or whatever).

Funny thing guys I took vacation with my GF thsi week and I still meant to put hours in there while others will sleep etc. well joke on me I left charger at home so felt like stupidest person ever rly and couldnt put in any volume nor studying. Considering the title of this blog my ilness week before hand it seems I am off to a bad start. Nevertheless I feel positive that I will be able to put lot of work next half of the month and at least try to mqke up for it.

About shotting for PLO50 I am not sure how it will go I had another few BIs shot and didnt take again. I am sure I still make tons of mistake but unfortunately biggest loosing hands I got in all in situatin having 70+% which hurts to lose especially when some were deep and kinda dream spots too. But can't cry about that thats the nature of this format and it might take a lot of time before I settle there epsecially with my aggressive shotting. In the end it doenst matter all that matters is the work which on the days I was able to work I am satisfied and my motivation is still also good considering I am not winning this month.

Another thing I am wondering lately is buying my own flat. I still live at parents because we have really big house and I pay really small rent and I have tons of benefits. But problem is that there is also tons of small interruptions from parents which I suspect result in much less work I could potentially put in and pretty big pressure on my mind set too. Unfortunatelly when I was calculating the options it is pretty close and I still dont have good financial reserve to deal with bigger swings so probably gonna have to stay put for a while and get my work ethic up so at least I have big rakeback every month so I lower down the variance.

At Jnandez Mastermind there is not yet a lot of content about single raised pots OOP, so I haven't been able to see what his strategy is. He mentions often that he is using solver base strategy with exploiting small stakes tendencies. There is a lot of videos about being IP, but not yet for OOP. And I haven't seen anyone's winrates who uses low cbet% oop in HU pots. So I can't really compare.

Maybe the missing charger was a blessing in disguise, so You got to relax without disturbances. You could consider setting a financial goal before leaving yr parents house. I known Kyyberi has a formula, although aggressive, for taking shots at a higher stake (in yr case 50) maybe Kyyberi can share his rule of thumb with You?

Whats up guys? thx for feedback kyyberi. Sure might have been but not what I planned and it bothered me tha I can still make such a stupid mistakes.

From now on I will have this blog separated to 3 parts: Health, poker and mindset. The reason for this is that some people might not care about some aspects of it and are here solely only for poker stuff or some play different format and might just come for inspiration in mindset department. This way everyone can just look at what they are interested. Of course there will be some overlays because everything is connected.

Health
In this are I am very satisfied this week I made some changes that were huge compared to the past few months :f_thumbsup:. After long time without any kind of exercise I decided to work out or at least move a bit which minimum for me was at least warm up and stretching from rushfit if not an actual work out) every day. Proudly I can say that not one day happened when I only did warm up and streched myself but always put at least some kind of work out between. It wasnt any hard work out but still I made myself promise and I am glad I kept it.:f_cool:

Highlights of the week was on Thursday when I decided to instead of going running my usual I went to other city where I usualy go by car or on bike with ym dog for a swim. I never been there by foot and it is around 8,5-10 km. Dont get it worng I wasnt running whole way I had to switch between walking and running but still a big goal for beginning and I was feeling it. It took me around 1hour and 10 minutes to get there and my work out didnt end there. I stretched myself and went to a pond for one hour swim in which I was keeping myself bit from shore so there is no rest in form of touching ground. This part of work out was good for me because I always loved water so it didnt seem like a problem and actually was quite a fun. Another thing I was making it much easier than the run was that I had ride home arranged. I made my hour and was really proud and swam to shore. The second I touched the ground oh I got cramps to both of my calves and had to keep floating and stretching my legs for like 4minutes in high pain and trying to strech my legs so the cramps go away. luckily it was ok and I dint get any cramps no more. Only downside of this was that for that day and the other one I was very fatigued and it of course influenced poker a bit.

Other good changes I made was in my diet I dont drink anything sweet at all anymore except one glass of orange juice half with water that still haunts me as a mistake. Even food I eat is much healthier now. I used to throw bread on frying pan then an egg and eat it together and it is really delicious. I decided to change it because I made it too foten and frying everything I would not end up well so now I actually eat normal bread and boiled eggs instead this. Some other changes like this I made but it would be too long to put it all here.

Poker
Poker was quite good week too from my part but some stuff also happened that in that moment I couldnt do anything about but should have think about it earlier so I still have to work on ymself to improve in this area. That said I made some profit this week but didnt went to 50 anymore as I burned there lot of money this month and I have to prepare for some other expenses next month. My volume this week was really good. One day I even had 8 of play + studying and others was around 6-7+ studying. Exception was monday on which I put only 4,5hours and friday in which I was super tired played bad and site had lot of troubles. I wanted to put 6 hours but in the end that day I had like 3 because it had so many disconnection it was unreal and making me feel even more tired than I was. _cool:

Few things I realized I need to change if I want to make it. 1. I calculated that I have around 400USD expenses and that doenst cover anything unexpected. So to make it on 25 I need around 4bb/100 (including rakeback) to make that. Not impossible but still even if I make it I dont have any room to take shots etc and I would be stuck so I need to get somewhere some more money. First thing came to mind was volume sure I coudl paly more tables more hours and get at least 50k hands a month but when I thought about it I dont think it is best solution as it puts more stress on me and not really effective. 2.nd thing that poped up was to improve my WR which woudl also decrease variance more than just increasing volume.

I though it will be alright taking shots to 50 because I was promised good rakeback from ym affiliate. What I dindt knwo is that GG works on PVI system and ofc grinders will have muhc worse rakeback tehre so in the end I got much elss than I was hoping for when I was taking those aggressive shots.

I decided I will make both of those things but combined and focus more on improving winrate. I think I dont study enough and that has to change. I joined PLO mastermind and will take it from there. I am not sure how I will like it or how my financial situation will be but for now I plan on taking one month focus on studying a lot and second month go at it myself and grind hard.

Another thing I must fix is the problem with site. Last three days it is really fucking my progress and I cant do anything about it. So I need to find a back up site and I am thinking about microgaming so already contacted my affiliate etc to sort it out. This is something I shoudl have do long ago and now it hinders my progress so again quite mad about myself. _evil:

Mindset
In this area I am super happy about myself and my progress this week. I was improving my mindset for some time now and it was good but this week was really blast for me. I am still listening to audio book can't hurt me by david goggins and it is such a powerful stuff man can't even wrap my head around it. Honestly how I am now I think my mindset is best it ever was and it is something when considered I am physically most out of shaped in my life and my financial situation isnt great either. But honetsly first time in my life I feel like I can do everything and really got drive for it that I think will last for long time and is sustainable.

Mostly what I am working on is the challenges from the book and repeating them and trying to think about them in depths to get most of it and I just feel such a progress that it is just crazy.

I am at 5th challenge now so gonna write here those before too.

1. write about your own life. Basically an essay about how unfair your life was what hardships you had etc. And honestly didnt know what is the goal of this challenge but of course I did it and thing in the end was funny that I realized it is not much stuff and I am just a crying baby. Especially comapred to the stuff in a book. I mean what david goggins survived just in his childhood is just huge and I am here complaining about stuff like my brother was always stronger and beat me etc.

2. was accountability mirror. Here you are very hoenst with yourself and say stuff like you are fat etc and just being brutally tough and honest with yourself. Mine has notes there so I keep looking at it and keep pushing myself. I have 4 notes so far and that is that I am SOFT (easy to use some excuse for me not finishing task I take upon myself etc) FAT (I mean tehre is not much to explain I look as shrek and my health is a joke) AFRAID (again kinda clear just worry too much and dont make bold decisions) and that my WORK ETHIC isnt what it should be (basically lazy). Great thing is that if you are honest you find out WHY you want those things and it needs to be something deep you desire because when struggle comes it will drive you through it

3. step outside your comfort zone. One of the harder but very important challenges imo. In my case it means to make more stuff inside the house for my parents etc running even if it rains trying to increase number of tables I play and to keep my environment clean alway which I struggle most because I am pretty messy

4. taking souls. Worst challenge for me and didnt find the right way how to do it yet. Point is to take something competitive and totaly destroy your enemy and show them something they never saw. Completely outdo yourself and overcome the expectation as much as you can. for example if boss gives you task to call 15 clients call 50. If your professor makes you to do project do some extra research even though fro an A it is not necessary. My problem here is that I dont have anything liek boss I dont study not palying sports anymoreand crushing my own soul is not good way to do it . In a way I actually made it to my mom because she always wants to lose weight but lets face it is lazy to start doing something. When I started working out and she was picking me up after my swimming I saw on her how bad she feels I do so much even though it is my first week after long time of not doing anything. But again my mom isnt someone I want to do this on so honestly my only idea is to do it to readers of my blog and my challenge will eb to surprise you with ym determination and work ethic and take your souls!_evil:

5. visualization. I think this is nothing new to most of us but definitely very important thing to do if you want to be succesful at anything. One thing which was new for me from this book was to visualize not only what I need to do and the success but also those obstacles that may come like variance injuries etc. (in his book he said when he took his challenge to run ultra marathon 100 miles he said he planned for feeling pain by that mark feeling out of breath etc) and what is great about this is when it actually comes you dont panic so much in your mind and those questions that pop up like why am I doing this etc you already have answer prepared

Didnt got to 6th yet so more will come _cool:
