This is more of a BU call/flop decision question, against player types.
In a 6-max cash table, hero has 89 offsuit.
Hero was thinking to open 2.5BB, fold to a 3-bet, if all fold before hero. Both blinds are quite passive players.
UTG/MP fold, but aggro CO opens 3BB. CO has 45/34/11, and even in 60+ hands, he has been entering lots of flops and bet pot on raggy flops often.
Hero calls 2.5BB, and both blinds folded, and it became a head-up.
However, when I reviewed this hand, I think fold was better. I'm wondering my thought process is valid or not.
1) This hand has some potential (mid connected) and combined with position, it would be good to call against a fit/fold player as hero could cbet and take most pots on flop, or got a connected flop.
2) Calling from BU would signal for competitive SB/BB to 3bet sqeeze often, as CO and BU's range is too wide.
3) In most postflop plays, hero should try to bluff off opp often, which is not working very well against this type of player. Hero could win several small pots, but could lose one big pot while trying this line.
