SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has A♣ A♥

Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, BTN calls 3 BB, fold, fold

Flop: (7.4 BB, 2 players) T♠ 3♦ J♦
Hero bets 5.4 BB, BTN calls 5.4 BB

Turn: (18.2 BB, 2 players) 5♥
Hero checks, BTN bets 8 BB, Hero calls 8 BB
Questions and thoughts:

Spoiler

don't get me wrong, I don't like give villain free cards, but I don't see he calling another bet here without tptk or an overpair himself, after my cbet OTF. So my plan here was to check the turn and bet the river.
When villain bets here even he been passive, I thought he still could have AJ, KJ or maybe QQ

River: (34.2 BB, 2 players) 6♥
Hero checks, BTN bets 16 BB, Hero calls 16 BB
Questions and thoughts:

Spoiler

Should I lead here? Would a passive villain cbet a tptk or an overpair here?
Or when villain bets, I'm mostly behind?
(I couldn't fold my overpair here, specially after the weak line that I toke OTF)

Spoiler

BTN shows T♣ J♠ (Two Pair, Jacks and Tens)

BTN wins 63 BB

Villain could be recreational, just bet bet bet. You have 20 hands on villain. Was there some reasons why you thought he would fold tons if you cbet the turn too?

Based mainly on his stats and how that type of player use to behave. To me, a 20/10 is closer to a weak tight/bad regular than to a calling station/passive fish.
And I'm raising from early position, 9 handed. So, his calling range would be tighter and my range is mainly compound of overpairs, toppairs and nut fds, on that board.

If he really is a weak tight player (of course, that sample size is small and he could be a fish), he would probably continue only with 2pair or sets, on that blank turn. Maybe a slowplayed QQ or a loose AJs/ATs call.

But, based on the result, his calling range pre is way looser than I expected and possibly pos as well.

On the other hand, even if I cbet 1/2 and he mini raises me OTT, I'm not sure if I'd call that and I'd probably had to fold to a cbet OTR after a MR OTT...
It just sucks, but my general feeling is that I call those MR turn/cbet river a lot and always loose at SD.

He maybe can call flush draw, Jx, not just AJ, KJ i see call here J9, or QJ, or A10, K10 too. And lot of straight draw here, KQ, 89, Q9, so i think better play cbet the turn too. And river small cbet or check-call depend how many villain bet the river. But perhaps better cbet the river smaller size.

I don't know why you don't bet OTT on the brick. You are either way behind, or he has a draw most likely the latter. You can easily fold to a raise and make him pay to draw. I think OTR a small bet is on the line, he can call with many worse hands, and of course fold to any aggression.

I like how you played.
You cant fold AA as played, specially against those sizes. It is the top of your range and you dont block diamonds.

My line would be bet/bet/check.
You can call a river bet on some runouts (like this one) and you extract maximum value.
The problems with this line are facing a turn raise and/or the river going check-check (which wouldn't be that bad tbh).
I think you should call a turn raise, but river is always going to be difficult.
The ace of diamonds is better to do it though.

Yeah.

I guess one of the issues with the line that I took is, OTT, I'm going to lose less when I'm behind and gain more only if the villain is aggressive and bluffs a lot.

On the other hand, if villain is passive (like this one possibly is), I'm going gain less when I'm ahead and potentially give villain a free card...
