I quit online poker when Tilt shut down in 2011. Not that I had to because I'm in Canada, and a local police officer had told me they didn't have the resources to prosecute individual players. But I was having personal problems and poker was my escape, so I was bleeding money. The plain malevolence of preaching that 30% of online players are profitable also didn't help me make sound decisions for a couple of years.
I came back about a week ago and threw a c-note on Party just to have a look. I've stuck to the $1 tournaments except for a couple of flyers at the $5 ones. Still have plenty of site roll left because I'm too old to waste my youth any more. It's not like a $200 prize pool ever enabled anyone to retire, and with wrecked kidneys and liver I might move up to the $11 tables on my deathbed.
tl;dr Poker is fun for many reasons and I actually enjoy it now. To know that the chance of ever being profitable is extremely low has made all the difference in the world.
